Rabies is a preventable viral disease of mammals most often transmitted to humans through the bite of a rabid animal. Rabies virus infects the central nervous system, causing
encephalopathy and ultimately death. Signs and symptoms include aggressiveness, apprehension, headache, fever, malaise, sensory changes, paralysis, hydrophobia, delirium, and convulsions.
The incubation period is usually one to three months but can range from less than one week to more than a year. Death occurs in nearly 100% of infected persons. But rabies is preventable with proper vaccinations. Protect your pets and livestock with yearly rabies vaccines!!!

Many people accidentally hold dogs in ways that can cause discomfort, stress, or even injury. Proper support helps your dog feel safe and protects their joints and spine.

✅ Safe ways to carry your dog:

✔️ Support the whole body
Keep your dog’s chest and hindquarters supported evenly.

✔️ Hold them close to your body
This helps your dog feel secure and reduces struggling or anxiety.

✔️ Keep the spine level
A relaxed, horizontal position is usually the most comfortable for small dogs.

🚫 Avoid these common mistakes:

❌ Lifting by the front legs
This can strain the shoulders, elbows, and spine.

❌ Holding vertically for long periods
Dangling legs and unsupported hips can cause discomfort and stress on the back.

❌ Carrying on their back like a baby
Some dogs tolerate it briefly, but many feel vulnerable or uncomfortable in this position.

🐾 Extra tip:
Older dogs, puppies, and dogs with back or joint issues need extra support when being lifted or carried.

💚 Small handling changes can make a big difference in your dog’s comfort, confidence, and long-term well-being.
