We really haven't wanted to talk about it, but a few weeks ago raccoons got into our coop and massacred most of our chickens and injured our ducks. After losing our guard dog last year, we knew the animals were vulnerable. Now we have electrified the coop and fence and reinforced the coop hatches. We set up a camera, and while we haven't seen the culprits themselves, we've seen plenty of other critters around the barnyard. Sometimes farming is tough.

Sometimes farming is hard. Our forecast said 34 for last night, so we expected it could drop to mid 20s, but woke up to 18 degrees. All our beautiful blooming fruit trees got zapped hard. Ugh.
