We’re excited to share that Sanctuary Farms was one of 17 teams awarded funding and recognized for advancing Michigan’s circular economy at the 2024 NextCycle Michigan Summer Showcase! Through our work transforming food waste into nutrient-rich compost and growing fresh, organic produce for Detroit’s lower eastside, we’re contributing to a more sustainable future—one that reduces waste, nourishes communities, and restores the environment.

🏆 The Harvest Grant funding we received will help us continue our mission to close the food loop and expand our impact. Programs like NextCycle Michigan empower local changemakers like us to drive meaningful change and bring innovative solutions to life.

We’re excited to share that our co-founder, Jøn Kent, will be speaking at Trellis Group’s Conference, happening April 29–May 1, 2025, in Denver!

jøn will be joining the panel “What Does It Really Mean to Be Regenerative?”, diving deep into the tension between true ecosystem restoration and growth-driven business models. This session will explore what genuine healing of natural systems looks like—from landscape-level sourcing to regenerative agriculture—and how we can reimagine supply chains to give more than they take.

In March, we were able to welcome a group of visitors as the first stop on a tour highlighting Detroit’s community-led efforts to reimagine and honor with our elder, the land! 🌱

Together with Arboretum Detroit and Rescue MI Nature NOW w, we shared stories about our neighborhoods’ histories, the transformations we've witnessed, and the work we're doing to restore and reclaim space for our communities.

Exciting news! We’re teaming up with Rhythm & Blues Juice Company to make our monthly volunteer days even more refreshing 🍊

Starting this Saturday, volunteers will be treated to complimentary fresh juices from R&B as a thank-you for showing up and showing out for the land. Join us this Saturday from 10AM–2PM at Sanctuary Farms for hands-on work, good vibes, and now — delicious juice 🙌

For the third year in a row, we had the privilege of hosting Alternative Spring Break Detroit (ASBD) at Sanctuary Farms! 💪🏽💚 These incredible students spent their break getting their hands dirty, cleaning up, and helping us prepare for the growing season.

ASBD is all about learning from and giving back to Detroit, and we’re honored to be part of their journey. Their dedication and energy remind us of the power of community-driven change. Thank you, ASBD, for your continued support and for showing up year after year to help make a difference! 🌍🌾

Made right here on the farm, our compost blends locally sourced food waste with organic materials like leaves and wood chips. Our screening process allows diverse materials to pass through, encouraging healthy microbiology to enrich your soil.

💚 A few things to note:
✅ We deliver within 30 miles of the farm—please check your location before ordering.
✅ Bagged compost is available year-round, while bulk compost is only available Spring through Fall.
✅ While we work hard to sift out any contaminants, some small particles may remain in the finished compost.
