Inside these walls, every team member brings a little extra heart — and a little extra personality. 🐾
So we asked the question that truly matters: “If you were a dog breed… which one would you be?”

From golden retrievers to chihuahuas, our team is as unique (and lovable) as the pets we care for.

Because at West Delray Vet, the medicine is exceptional… but the people make it feel like home. 💛

Meet Cannoli 🍮🐶 — the sweetest 8-year-old Cavalier here today for heart imaging.

Here’s what we check during appointments like this:
• Vitals and heart rate
• Gum + mucous membrane color 💗
• Manual blood pressure (so important for echo exams)
• Ultrasound and echocardiogram imaging while he relaxes on his side

These details help us evaluate heart function, blood flow, and ensure your pet is as safe and comfortable as possible. Cannoli was an absolute angel for his exam — and yes, we gave him extra love and snuggles afterward 🐾

From our West Delray Vet family to yours — thank you.

This recognition from Newsweek as one of the top veterinary hospitals in the country (for the second year in a row) is deeply meaningful because:
1️⃣ It reflects our commitment to compassionate, thoughtful care
2️⃣ It honors the trust we’re given by our clients + patients
3️⃣ It celebrates our incredible team and culture
4️⃣ It reminds us that love and medicine can go hand-in-hand

We are so grateful to serve you, to learn from every patient who walks through our doors, and to continue growing with this community. Happy holidays — and here’s to even more healing, connection, and care in the year ahead 🐾✨

This is Lucia — 15 years young, wise-eyed, brave-hearted… and full of fight. ❤️🐶
Her pet parent Adrienne first came to us for an emergency visit years ago — and never left. Since then, Lucia has thrived with our integrative care approach, including:
💧 Underwater treadmill
💪 Strength & balance training
🧘‍♀️ Rehab & physical therapy
And lots of gentle encouragement from Miss D (Deana, our rehab specialist), who treats every patient like her own.

Watching Lucia work, splash, heal, and smile… that’s why we do what we do. 🩵

When pets age, they don’t have to slow down — not when they have the right support and a team that truly cares.

Meet Bella — one of the warm, trusted hands behind the care your pets receive. 🐾✨
She started in vet med at just 18… from kennel girl → client service rep → assistant → now veterinary technician — and every step of the journey has been driven by genuine love for animals and connection with their people.

At West Delray Vet, our team knows your pet by name, remembers their story, and treats them like family in a space designed to feel calming and safe.

📸 Here’s to the people who make every visit feel personal, peaceful, and heartfelt.

Part 2 of Delilah’s eye journey 💚🐾

After applying her fluorescein stain, we used a Wood’s lamp (a type of black light) — and confirmed a small area of green stain uptake, meaning Delilah still has an active corneal ulcer.

Since this has been ongoing for a few weeks, Dr. Block is now partnering with a veterinary ophthalmologist for specialized care.
Collaboration like this ensures Delilah gets the most advanced, targeted treatment possible.

👁️ Treatment often includes:
• Antibiotic drops
• Medications to support corneal healing
• Drops to block enzyme activity that slows repair

And yes — Delilah has a brother named Samson, and together they’re named after the Grateful Dead reference 💛 Tie-dye collar and all!

We’re cheering for your speedy recovery, sweet girl ✨

November is Pet Cancer Awareness Month — and early detection truly saves lives 🐾🎗️

Cancer affects 1 in 4 dogs and 1 in 5 cats at some point in their lives. Knowing what to look for can make all the difference.

🔎 Watch for:
• New lumps or bumps
• Weight loss
• Appetite changes
• Unusual behavior
• Persistent fatigue

At West Delray Vet, we provide:
✨ Comprehensive exams
✨ Bloodwork & imaging
✨ Personalized care plans
✨ Integrative support before, during & after treatment
✨ Guidance for nutrition + home monitoring

Your pet deserves compassionate, attentive care through every step — and we’re here to support both of you. 🤍

Meet sweet Delilah, a 12-year-old Shih Tzu with a few… Shih Tzu problems 😉💛
Shih Tzus often have prominent eyes, which can make them more prone to scratches, dryness, and other ocular issues.

Today, Dr. Block and Josh are checking a suspected corneal ulcer using a fluorescein stain — a safe, glowing dye that helps us see if there’s a defect on the surface of the eye.

🩺 Why this matters:
• Eye issues can progress quickly
• Early detection protects vision
• Prompt treatment prevents complications

Folow along for more of Delilah’s journey as we uncover what’s going on with her eye 🐾💚
