Read on below for more of his story and rescue.....
As a Senior, a dog should be safe and loved and napping their days away in the sunshine without a care in the world. Unfortunately, that is not what happened for Max, a 14 year old dachshund. This sweet boy lost not just one family, but two, and with no other options or anyone to come for him, he found himself in a shelter, putting his life at risk.
President Pam received a call from that shelter, outside our area, where the rescue office was working the phones, and hoping to find a soft place to land for a sweet boy who needed a chance.
Max had suffered his first heart break when his long time owner went into assisted living and he somehow found another place to stay. That home lasted for however long until that person could no longer care for him and brought him to the shelter in fairly rough shape.
President Pam agreed to help Max on the spot and the shelter wanted so badly for Max to find rescue that they brought him south to PAWS where he was welcomed by Dr. Riff and her team.
Poor Max had been neglected for some time….he arrived at PAWS with a slightly pendulous abdomen, a pretty good case of fleas, dirty and matted fur, and a horrible mouth full of teeth with a 4 out of 4 on dental disease.
Dr. Riff and her team welcomed Max with a THROUGH bath and will give him a minute to settle in and then do a full workup to understand what we are working with besides a pretty hefty dental.
You showed up to give Walter a safe place to land and Max is hoping our community has it in them to give him the same chance at a gentle landing. As always, even $1 earns you bragging rights for joining the hardest working biggest loving team in rescue. Even if you are not able to donate, comments and shares are free and still help Max as the more comments we have the more people see his story!
