Sometimes sisters and brothers fight like cats and dogs and sometimes, they just love each other. That seems to be the case with Katie and Kip. They are 4 months old now and would love to find a home, either apart or together. Katie has a calmer demeanor and Kip is the wild child. Stop by and meet these two sweethearts today! What about Bob? Bob is a year old husky/Pomeranian mix. This guy is great. He does well with other dogs, but has shown that if he has a favorite chew toy or snack, he will guard it if another dog comes near. Bob loves people. Not much really bothers him. Our beautiful River is a great mixed breed. She could have boxer, shepherd, pit bull, malinois, or something else to make up her beautiful self. River is also a very energetic girl. She would enjoy a home where she can go on long walks and explore the outdoors. River is thought to be just under a year old. We think in her previous life, she must have had a bad experience with children as she has not shown any interest in them and they seem to scare her. Please stop by and meet River. Blueberry is a smart girl, but she needs a home who will make sure she gets time to run and play and stay busy. She can get bored and loves keeping her mind active. Very nice, professional people that made this closing so easy. Thank you, Macon County Title, for your support and donation.

Thanks realtors and customers for all of the wonderful closings this week, record numbers! One standout was the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County’s purchase of a facility that will allow them to care for more animals in need. Pictured is the longtime president, Irene Peterson & Board member, Bruce. They are a 501c3 NFP, so can receive donations that are tax deductible & MCT was happy to donate back closing fees. Look them up!

Special Needs #Giving Tuesday Network for Good

Bambi is a sweet fourteen month old Boxer/Lab mix. Bambi was hit by a car in the care of previous owner, and, did not receive necessary veterinarian care. Now she is at the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County in Decatur, Illinois, awaiting surgery for amputation of her right front leg. Neurological damage cannot be repaired, and, during the length of time she did not receive medical attention, she tried to chew her foot off. She is currently on pain medication and daily bandage change while waiting for scheduled surgery.

Bambi is one of four special needs dogs currently at our facility. Another is Heath, a young, chocolate lab male, waiting for his scheduled surgery at SportsVet in Savoy. Heath needs to have the femoral head removed on his left hip. Heath is another hit-by-car tragedy not receiving veterinary care. He is currently on pain medications. Then, we have Rebecca, a 7 year old Maltese, mostly blind from cataracts. We would like to be able to take her to an ophthalmologist to see if she is a candidate for cataract removal. And, last, but not least is Scooby, a two year old rat terrier mix, that came in mostly blind.

These special dogs would really appreciate any monetary donations to the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County to help provide for their surgeries and care. You can donate through Network for Good #Giving Tuesday starting now. The Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County is a no-kill animal shelter/rescue that is mainly volunteers, and, depends entirely on private donations and our fundraising activities.
