Ruff Rescue Transport is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization that helps bridge the gap for animals needing a ride to a rescue. Without a ride, many of the animals would not make it out of high intake shelters. Our mission is to help end the needless euthanasia of dogs and cats by transporting them to locations where they are more adoptable. We partner with reputable 501(c)(3) rescues, who wil

Holiday Fundraiser is complete, and I can't thank each and every one of you enough. Your support has been vital to keep us rolling in 2026. We have had a mountain of vetting costs this year. Some of you even donated twice, once for the Cottons Medical Bills Fundraiser, and again to the Holiday Campaign. (Vicki-you donate monthly! Thank you!)
Every donation adds up and helps us save more. We are, and always will be, 100% volunteer. Every dollar is used wisely and will never be spent on anything that isn't directly for the transport/rescue of animals in need.

Last run of 2025: Ruff Transport helped get Tucker out of a shelter in rural KY that has no heat and 1 hour a day of "services" that include feeding and spraying kennels with the dogs in them. They may or may not even come in on weekends. Tucker has lived there since late September after his owner decided to move without him. Without the help of Danetta Wells@Lisa Workman Brenda Young Gabbert, nobody would know that he even existed. Huge thanks to Brave Breed Rescue, Inc. for helping him with that beautiful rescue offer.
On transport day, all three of us transporting him tag team style were ill, but nothing was going to stop us from getting him out ASAP. I really fell hard for this guy. He is the sweetest, most gentle soul. Please adopt him if you're looking for a family addition!

In addition, we also added 8 cats heading to a larger transport to rescue in WI. Two of them were adult cats, never outside, whose owner died. The family said they had no option but to "set them loose by the river". Good Grief 😡. Everyone is safe and I thank you for your support, which allows me to continue this work. Try not to get depressed when I sometimes share the stories that I know. For every person doing the wrong thing, there are many more that are trying to help. I just wish those with good hearts would do more. In rescue you see the worst in people, but also the best.

These 3 are spending Christmas with us while waiting on their transport to rescue. This way they are able to travel right after Christmas and got an upgrade on their accommodations! Martin County is a poor area and has a bare minimum of help and resources for people and animals needing help. Lots of dogs unaltered and unwanted.

Merry Christmas to these 3! We have heat, light, and playtime here for them. Poor babies have pressure sores . Thanks Danetta, Lisa and Brenda for helping these three be visible so they could get aome help.

Best Christmas ever for Karma!!
Thank you Husky Freedom Project for partnering with us, and Hillbilly Paws, to get Karma out of rural KY and into a great home. She has a Husky big brother, a fenced yard, doggie door and lots of love. She is the most affectionate husky ♥️. I got the text last night that said the match was geat and Karma was now with her new family. Merry Christmas Karma 🎄

It's cold outside, but the Ruff Rescue barn is nice and toasty. This group is spending the night, and will not feel that awful frigid wind. Just last night, Sweet Dot and her 7 pups were waiting rescue in an outside kennel. Sheba, pointy ear white dog, was running loose and dealing with the cold in her rural county. Lucky the tripod was in an overcrowded and noisy shelter. They will sleep extra well tonight!

Early start tomorrow because this group has to go all the way to eastern PA. I'll get them to Columbus in the morning to meet up with Toni's Team for the rest of their journey to Lamancha. THANK YOU LAMANCHA, and all the rescuers and drivers involved. THANK YOU for your support of these rides.

Transport Day for this beautiful boy named Ringo. He was in a rural shelter for the past couple months. Two dedicated ladies in the area got his information/pictures and posted it. Others in rescue shared it. Ringo's post was shared enough to get him a spot at a wonderful rescue 200 miles away.
The Martin County shelter gets almost zero traffic and is bare bones with no heat. The local networkers and transport made all difference. Also, big thanks for helping him Rescued OH!

I'm always humbled and grateful when somebody hosts a Birthday Fundraiser for us. It means a lot and helps out in months where we may get no new donations at all. It means one more tank of gas, vetting of an animal to travel, ordering of slip leads or food for overnighters. Some fundraisers do quite well, and some only make a few bucks, but every one of them means you care. Thank you for thinking of us on your Birthday!

Miley was surviving by a highway in Martin County, KY scavenging for food by a gas station. She was eventually hit by a car and Cyndi of Hillbilly Paws heard about her and stepped in to help. Nothing broken, but this dog was clearly in crisis way before she was hit. She is a senior, blind in one eye, deaf, has arthritis, other mobility issues and a tail that just wags and wags when she sees you! I washed away what looked like years of dirt. She is clean, still wagging that tail, and on her way to Lamancha today with Tonis team. Ruff Transport also picked up 3 pit/mastiff pups heading to another rescue in PA from Hillbilly Paws. We have double whammy storms in KY and southern Cincinnati, but were able to pick up Friday and get them all off with Tonis Team early this morning avoiding both storms ✅ safe travels to all the rescue transports out there this weekend!

Rescue friend Brenda Young Gabbert is busy helping many dogs dumped in a hollar in Martin, KY. (probably 12 dogs). They are all trying to survive outside and running loose. Some neighbors in the area are threatening to shoot them, and have already used pellet guns on them. Can you imagine how scared and cold they all must be? One sweet lady there is feeding them and Brenda has been in contact with her. This little family are the first ones out. Mom and her three pups were brought up from Martin, KY yesterday and I had them at the Ruff B & B last night. Today they traveled to their rescue and will have bright futures.
At the Ruff Rescue Barn, mom slept a lot! She adored the blankets and wanted right back inside when I took her out to potty. She spent the night before in an old wooden dog house, with her 3 pups, and two other dogs. These are the first ones saved. I hope we can help get more out soon. Not sure if the rescue will keep the names, but we named them Mom =Mary. Pups = Gabriel, Angel & Star

Two litters of older puppies spent the night last night and are now on the way to their PA rescue. So many puppies needing help right now its overwhelming.
We also brought up three cute little beagles for a beagle rescue.
