Chewy came to us for what the owner believed was a hot spot. After closer examination, her area of inflammation revealed a live worm 🐛 🐾

Cuterebra (or rodent bots) are a parasite that we occasionally see in North Texas. These larvae will bury into a hole in the skin where they will mature until they become an adult fly. Although there is no prevention they are easily treated once removed with basic cleaning and anti-inflammatories.

Meet Beauty 🐶✨
Beauty is an 8-year-old Chihuahua mix who kept gaining weight despite a healthy diet. Her coat also became dull and dry 😔

🩺 Bloodwork showed low thyroid levels, confirming hypothyroidism — a common condition in older dogs where the thyroid doesn’t make enough hormone to keep metabolism in check.

💊 With daily medication and regular checkups, Beauty’s energy came back, her coat started shining again, and she went from 22 lbs ➡️ 10 lbs over time! 🌟

🧬 Key Takeaway:
If your pet is gaining weight, slowing down, or losing their shine — talk to your vet! Early care makes all the difference 💕🐾

Meet Annie 🐾❤️
Annie, a 1.5-year-old Dalmatian, came to us feeling tired and not eating much. Bloodwork showed inflammation, and she started IV fluids, steroids, and antibiotics 💉

After some improvement, her signs returned, leading to X-rays that revealed a mediastinal mass — lymphoma 💔 Her family chose palliative care, and Annie spent two more loving months at home surrounded by comfort and care 🐶🌈

🧬 Key Takeaway:
Lymphoma can affect dogs of any age or breed. If your pet seems tired, off their food, or just “not themselves,” early testing can make all the difference 💕

🐾🩻 After several visits to their primary vet and unremarkable pelvic X-rays, this sweet pup still had an abnormal gait — but no clear answers.

When Dr. Wright examined him, she noticed a subtle bulge in the inner thigh that hadn’t been identified before. Further evaluation and a normal biopsy confirmed a rare diagnosis: Gracilis Contracture (fibrotic myopathy) — a condition Dr. Wright has only seen once in her career. 🩺✨

The good news? This condition is non-painful, doesn’t require treatment, and typically stabilizes over time. Right now, this pup is happy, active, and showing no signs of discomfort 🤸‍♀️

We’re so grateful we could provide clarity and peace of mind for his family. ❤️🐶
