📣 We heard you — and we’re making it happen.

Many of our members shared that they wanted more opportunities for open conversations, networking, idea sharing, and practical discussions focused on the real challenges facing animal welfare agencies across South Carolina. So… we listened.

Introducing SCACCA Connect — a new half-day member meetup designed to bring animal welfare professionals together in a more relaxed, collaborative setting.

Expect:
🐾 Learning & idea sharing
🤝 Networking with peers from across the state
💬 Honest conversations about current challenges and solutions
💡 Opportunities to help shape future SCACCA trainings and events

Whether you work in animal control, shelter operations, veterinary support, field services, leadership, rescue partnerships, or community programs — this opportunity is for you.

We’re excited to create more space for connection, collaboration, and conversations that matter.

Fargo’s Law was signed into law!

Today, Governor Henry McMaster signed H.3034, the K9 Protection bill, into law.

This legislation strengthens protections for law enforcement K9s and represents years of work and advocacy by many dedicated supporters across South Carolina.

We appreciate Governor McMaster, the members of the General Assembly who supported this legislation, and especially Representative Neal Collins, who worked alongside us for more than a decade to get this bill across the finish line.

🐾 DID YOU KNOW?

Under South Carolina law (Section 47-3-60(B)), a litter of unidentifiable puppies or kittens 4 months of age and younger are not required to complete the standard 5-day stray hold before being transferred for lifesaving purposes.

That means shelters can move vulnerable litters into rescue, foster, or adoption pathways immediately — helping reduce illness risk, overcrowding, and unnecessary delays in care.

This provision exists to protect some of the most vulnerable animals entering our shelters and support faster lifesaving outcomes across South Carolina. ❤️🐶🐱
