ADOPTION

Adoption fee: $35
All animals at risk of euthanasia have adoption fee of $0
All animals come spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on basic vaccinations. To see all animals at risk of euthanasia due to shelter length of stay, please go to our FB page: COC Animal Services Rescue Needs

Important: We do NOT guarantee health, behavior, or temperament, nor do we have the resources for extensive testing or exams on any animals prior to rescue pulls. CAS does not DNA test shelter pets and is therefore unable to determine the breed of promoted animals. We believe all dogs are individuals and their behaviors should not be predicted based on physical characteristics. LOST A PET? To reclaim a lost pet, please come into the shelter during business hours and provide a valid form of ID. Please note, all animals will be spayed/neutered upon their retrieval unless a note from a veterinarian is provided.

It’s Petco Love PickMe! SC Week- who are YOU picking? 🐾

Our adoptable dogs are eagerly waiting to meet you! We’re closed today for Juneteenth but will reopen tomorrow at 9 a.m. to try to get all of these babies into loving homes! 💜

Tomorrow is the LAST DAY of PickMe! SC which means it’s the last day to take home a new best friend for ZERO dollars- so you can put that money toward starter care and supplies! 🥳

🏡 We’re also always in need of fosters to help us save lives. Fostering provides a temporary home for a shelter pet while we work together to find them an adopter, and clears a kennel at the shelter for another lost or homeless pet in need.

Meet Cade, a big guy with a big personality to match. Cade is currently one of our longest-term residents. The shelter is FULL and Cade is at extremely high risk due to length of stay and space limitations. 💔 We’re hoping to find him an adopter, foster or rescue placement to save his life.

This lovable meatball is full of energy and always ready for action. He’s the definition of a go-go-go kind of dog and would thrive with an active family committed to helping him become the best version of himself.

Cade is a strong, enthusiastic pup who could use a little work on his manners- he’s a little mouthy, jumpy, and pulls on the leash, so he’d benefit greatly from some training. The good news? He LOVES treats, so reward-based training should be right up his alley! Because of his size and exuberance, we don’t recommend him for homes with small children until he’s had some time to settle down and work on training.

When it comes to other dogs, Cade is eager to make friends and jumps right into play. He’s participated in shelter playgroups and has generally done well, though he has struggled with stimulus control at times when excitement levels rise. Because of this, he may do best as an only dog or with the right canine match.

If you already have pets at home, we encourage you to bring them by for a meet and greet. Meet and greets are welcome anytime during our open hours- no appointment required!

If you’ve got treats, patience, and a sense of adventure, Cade is ready to meet you. He’s a sweet boy who deserves a second chance and a life outside of the shelter.

Meet Mayor Daniel Rickenmann's Dog of the Week, Mr. Wrinkly! 💙

Mr. Wrinkly has been waiting far too long for his happy ending. This lovable house hippo has been in and out of the shelter system since July of last year, and after everything he's been through, he deserves a family of his own.

When Mr. Wrinkly first arrived at the shelter, his skin was in terrible condition. Thanks to the care of our team and his dedicated foster dad, he's healing beautifully and becoming the handsome boy he was always meant to be. He was even adopted a few months ago, but unfortunately it wasn't the right fit for the home, and he was surrendered back to the shelter through no fault of his own.

Mr. Wrinkly is a medium-to-low energy dog who loves car rides, walks, meeting people, and going on adventures, but he's just as happy spending the day cuddling on the couch. He's house trained, crate trained and knows some basic commands.

He can be shy at first and may cower around quick movements or loud noises, so he'll need a patient adopter who can help him continue building confidence. Once he warms up, his goofy personality shines. He loves being the center of attention, enjoys looking at himself in mirrors, and has the most charming wrinkles around.

Mr. Wrinkly does best with dogs who match his relaxed energy level and may be overwhelmed by more active dogs. He may also be best suited for a home with older children, as his playful energy may cause him to knock over little ones.

After nearly a year of waiting, Mr. Wrinkly is more than ready to find his forever family. If you're looking for a loyal companion, a professional couch potato, and a dog who will love you with his whole heart, Mr. Wrinkly may be your perfect match!

If you're willing and able to open your heart and home to a senior dog in need, whether that's as a foster parent or a forever family, it would make a huge difference in their lives. Please consider giving a second chance to an older, wise pup- and skip the puppy shenanigans!
