National Pitbull Awareness Day

• Myth: Pit Bulls are naturally and inherently aggressive.
Fact: No dog breed is automatically aggressive. Behavior depends on genetics, socialization, training, health, and individual upbringing, not breed label alone.

• Myth: Pit Bulls have locking jaws.
Fact: A biological or anatomical "locking mechanism" does not exist in Pit Bulls or any other dog breed. Their jaw structure functions just like any other dog's.

• Myth: Visual identification of a Pit Bull is reliable.
Fact: "Pit Bull" is a broad umbrella term rather than a single official breed, often encompassing mixes and multiple distinct breeds (such as the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier). Visual guessing is frequently inaccurate.

• Myth: Pit Bulls make poor or unsafe family pets.
Fact: Many Pit Bull-type dogs are affectionate, loyal, and goofy companions, and they consistently score high on temperament tests (such as the American Temperament Test Society

Happy National Pug Day!

1. Pugs have curly tails!

Care tip: Keep the skin fold around the tail clean and dry to help prevent irritation and infection.

2. Pugs love to sleep!
Fun fact: Pugs can sleep for much of the day, especially after playing.

Care tip: Give your pug a comfortable, quiet bed. Puppies and older pugs may need extra rest, but sudden tiredness should be checked by a vet.

3. Pugs LOVE food!
Fun fact: Pugs are famous for being food-motivated and may beg for snacks with their big, adorable eyes!

Care tip: Measure their meals, limit treats, and avoid overfeeding. Extra weight can make breathing and joint problems worse.

4. Pugs have big personalities!
Fun fact: Pugs are often affectionate, silly, and social. They usually love spending time with their families.

Care tip: Give your pug daily playtime, gentle walks, and positive-reinforcement training. Avoid strenuous exercise in hot or humid weather.

🦃🍂 Happy Thanksgiving, Canada! 🇨🇦🐾

Wishing you and your loved ones a Thanksgiving filled with gratitude, laughter, delicious food, and plenty of tail wags! ❤️🐶🐱 As you gather around the table, let’s make sure our furry family members enjoy a safe and happy holiday, too.

🐾 5 Tips for a Pet-Friendly Thanksgiving

🍗 1. Keep the feast pet-safe. Avoid giving pets turkey bones, fatty foods, gravy, onions, garlic, chocolate, grapes, raisins, or anything containing xylitol.

🗑️ 2. Secure the scraps. Keep food waste, bones, string, and packaging out of curious paws and noses.

🚪 3. Watch the doors. With guests coming and going, make sure pets have proper identification and a quiet, secure space if they need a break.

🕯️ 4. Create a calm environment. Keep candles, hot dishes, and decorations out of reach, and give nervous pets a cozy place to relax.

🥕 5. Share safe treats. Want your pet to join the celebration? Offer a small portion of plain, boneless, skinless, fully cooked turkey or pet-safe vegetables without seasoning.

❤️ Remember: If your pet eats something toxic or develops concerning symptoms, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary clinic promptly.

From our family to yours, we hope your Thanksgiving is full of love, gratitude, happy memories, and healthy, happy pets! 🐾🧡

Happy World Rabies Day!!
How to protect yourself and your family!!
1. Do not feed, touch, or adopt wild animals, and be cautious of stray dogs and cats. Rabid animals do not always appear vicious!
2. Teach children to leave wildlife alone. Be sure your child knows to tell you if an animal bites or scratches them.
3. Have your veterinarian (or local animal shelter) vaccinate your pets and livestock against rabies. Keep their vaccinations up to date.
4. Tightly close garbage cans and feed bins. Open trash and feed bags attract wild or stray animals to your home or yard.
5. Feed your pets indoors; never leave pet food outside as this attracts wildlife.
Keep outdoor pets in a fenced yard.
6. Avoid all contact with bats, especially bats found on the ground. If you find a bat on the ground, don’t touch it. Report the bat and its location to your local animal control officer or health department.
