He saved a life every day, now he needs us.

Demon isn’t just a dog; he’s a seizure-alert service hero for a veteran who served our country for 25 years. Last week, a car accident left Demon came to AERC with multiple pelvic fractures. With the help of our friends at Colorado Canine Orthopedics Demon is on the road to recovery after undergoing emergency surgery and a few nights of hospitalization.

It’s just the two of them, each other’s everything. If you can, please help bring Demon back to his daily walks with his favorite ball and the job he loves: keeping his person safe.

To learn more and help Demon with his recovery please consider donating or sharing his story.

Five years ago, Demon became more than just my dog – he became my lifeline as a service dog who detects my seizures. After serving our country for 25 years, …

K9 Roam’s recovery continues to inspire, and today, we want to shine a light on one of the unsung heroes in his journey: HemoSolutions Clinic Clients. Thanks to their incredible coordination, more than a dozen service dogs came together to donate blood, giving Roam the critical support he needed to survive.

From retired K9s stepping up to new recruits lending a paw, this act of compassion and teamwork shows just how powerful our community can be. We’re honored to have been part of Roam’s care and grateful to every agency and partner who stood with us.

Thank you again to HemoSolutions, our veterinary team, and all the service animals who gave Roam a fighting chance.

(COLORADO SPRINGS)– Blood donations from several police dogs saved the life of Roam, a Colorado Springs Police K9, after he was stabbed three times in the line of duty. More than a dozen serv…

This week, our team was treated to a delicious lunch courtesy Paravicini's Italian Bistro and we couldn’t be more grateful. A bowl of pasta really is good for the soul, especially when it comes from a place of kindness and community support.

Their gesture came as a thank-you for our team’s work with K9 Roam, whose story has touched so many. From critical condition to a courageous recovery, Roam reminded us why we do what we do—and how powerful it is when a community comes together.

Paravicini’s: thank you for nourishing not just our bodies, but our spirits. And to everyone following Roam’s journey: thank you for standing with us.

As we wrap up and reflect on this year’s Veterinary Technician Week, we cannot help but have full hearts. We were blessed with a patient who reminded us so vividly why we do what we do.

K9 Roam came to us in critical condition, his outlook uncertain, his injuries severe. Like so many patients who arrive at our emergency room, his fate hung in the balance. But through the unwavering dedication of our emergency veterinary team, and the life-saving surgical care from our partners at Mountain View Veterinary Surgery , Roam’s story became one of hope, healing, and triumph.

Seeing Roam walk out the door, tail wagging, surrounded by the very team who stood by him from the moment he arrived, was nothing short of extraordinary.

In a field where the emotional weight can be heavy, and the days long, cases like Roam’s are a powerful reminder of our purpose. They fill our hearts, renew our spirits, and bring light to the mental health challenges that so many veterinary professionals quietly carry. We see you. We thank you. And we celebrate you.

To our veterinary team: "you are truly out of this world". Thank you for your compassion, your strength, and your commitment to every life that walks through our doors.

To Roam: We pray for continued protection over your recovery! Thank you for being the kind of patient who reminds us what healing looks like and why we never give up.

We have taken initiative and partnered with MyBalto to create a fund for this purpose. We are committed to raising money for this mission, so stories like Roam could be a reality for everyone.

Roam's case was successful because we were able to move at an emergency pace because we ignored the financial aspect of our workflow. By delaying the involvement of the financial impact of Roam's care, our team was able to quickly intervene without limitations on their skills or ability to save his life. God's Grace allowed for a perfect symphony of timing and staffing to create a moment that allowed for a beautiful orchestra of medical interventions and organization that could not have occurred otherwise.

If you’d like to support more life-saving stories like Roam’s, we invite you to contribute to our nonprofit fund: https://bit.ly/3Tqmc7m Your generosity helps pets and families in need receive critical care.

We are heartbroken yet deeply honored to have been part of the emergency response that saved K9 Roam’s life. Roam was gravely injured in the line of duty, but thanks to the swift coordination between law enforcement and our amazing veterinary team, he pulled through a critical surgery and showed his fighting spirit with a wag of his tail.

This moment reminds us of the extraordinary bond between service animals and their handlers and the power of teamwork in the face of tragedy. Roam, you are our warrior and our prayers are with you and the entire Colorado Springs K9 Unit. 🐾💙

We will continue to share updates on Roam’s recovery. Thank you to everyone who has supported his journey.

Earlier today, CSPD K9 Roam and his handler were dispatched to assist in an incident involving a barricaded suspect. During the encounter, K9 Roam and his officer made contact with the suspect, and in the line of duty, K9 Roam was stabbed multiple times.

He was immediately transported to a local emergency veterinary hospital, where he remains in critical condition and is currently undergoing surgery.

Our hearts are heavy as we stand alongside K9 Roam’s handler and their family during this incredibly difficult time. We ask our community to join us in sending every bit of love, strength, and healing energy to K9 Roam as he bravely fights to recover.

K9 Roam recently joined the Colorado Springs Police Department K9 Unit and has already made an incredible impact, proudly serving as CSPD’s first Certified Gun Detection Dog. His courage, loyalty, and dedication to protecting our community embody the very best of what it means to serve.

The adorable Tyke was discharged recently after being with us for nearly a week. The reason? Parvovirus.

Parvovirus is a deadly disease that we see all too often. You can reduce the chances of your puppy getting Parvovirus by getting your puppy vaccinated as soon as possible.
