🐾 Pet Medication Safety Update 🐾

Colmar Veterinary Hospital wants to make our pet families aware of a voluntary recall involving certain compounded medications distributed by Wedgewood Pharmacy.

The recall involves concerns about medication potency, meaning some affected products may contain higher or lower amounts of the active ingredient than intended.

What does this mean for your pet?

🧡 If your pet receives compounded medication from Wedgewood Pharmacy, take a moment to review the official recall notice and check whether your specific prescription is included.

🧡 Have the medication name, lot number, and expiration date available when reviewing the recall details.

🧡 If your pet’s medication is listed, retain the product and contact your veterinarian promptly for instructions on how to proceed with treatment.

🔎 Review the official recall information: Wedgewood Pharmacy Recall Notice

📞 Wedgewood recall assistance: 866-562-5931

This recall does not affect every medication dispensed by Wedgewood Pharmacy. If you have concerns about your pet’s prescription, please reach out to our care team so we can help you determine the appropriate next steps.

We appreciate our pet families helping us keep our community informed! 🐶🐱❤️

Think your pet may have been exposed to rabies? Here’s what to do next.

Rabies is a serious and nearly always fatal disease once symptoms develop, so possible exposure should always be taken seriously.

If your pet has been bitten, scratched, or had direct contact with a bat or other wild animal:

• Keep your pet away from people and other animals until you can speak with your veterinary care team.

• Do not handle wildlife with your bare hands. If the animal can be safely contained, contact your local animal control or appropriate wildlife authorities for guidance.

• Call the veterinary hospital as soon as possible. What happens next can depend on your pet’s rabies vaccination status and the circumstances of the exposure.

• If you were also bitten, scratched, or exposed to saliva from the animal, contact your healthcare provider promptly.

Keeping your pet’s rabies vaccine up to date is one of the most important ways to protect them, your family, and your community. ❤️

Unsure if your pet is due for their rabies vaccine or need to schedule an appointment? Give us a call, we’re happy to help! 🐶🐱

🐾 August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month!

Is your pet suddenly scratching, licking their paws, or dealing with another ear infection? It may be more than just an occasional itch.

Seasonal and environmental allergies are incredibly common in pets, especially this time of year. And while food often gets blamed first, what’s outside your front door may actually be the culprit. 🌿

👉 Swipe through for a quick guide to common allergy triggers, signs to watch for, and ways you can help your pet at home.

Persistent itching isn’t something your pet just has to live with. If you’re noticing red skin, paw licking, recurrent ear problems, hair loss, or nonstop scratching, give us a call so we can help get to the bottom of the itch. 🐶🐱
