We have a few sunny days left before the storm ☀️❄️ and it’s the perfect time to get your pet in to see us! Dr. Shearer and Dr. Cito are both in the clinic today, and we still have a few openings available, along with some spots for the rest of the week. Puppy vs. Kitten? 🐾 We were lucky enough to have two tiny patients come in at the same time. A puppy visiting Dr. Cito and a kitten seeing Dr. Losack made for a pretty perfect afternoon at the clinic. Could we ever pick a favorite? Absolutely not! We love them all around here, big or small, paws or whiskers, young or old 💙 But be honest… which team are you on? 🐶🐱

One of the most important things we do is look for "hidden" health concerns that don't show up on the outside. For example, last year 1 in 90 dogs at truBOND tested positive for heartworm disease! These tiny parasites are spread by mosquitoes and can cause serious trouble for a pet's heart and lungs. Since heartworm is often a silent disease, yearly testing is truly our best way to catch it early and keep those tails wagging! 🐶 While heartworms are less common in cats, 1 in 20 cats we tested were found to be carrying intestinal parasites! We also found that 1 in 35 cats tested positive for retroviruses like FeLV or FIV, which can weaken their immune systems over time.🐱 Most importantly, our internal screenings showed that 2 in 5 cats and 1 in 5 dogs had early signs of organ changes, such as kidney or liver shifts!🐾
Many of these patients were acting completely normal and happy at home. This is why we are so passionate about those yearly wellness checks and screenings! Catching these concerns early allows us to provide much better outcomes and a higher quality of life for your furry companions. 💙

At truBOND, we are so proud to have performed 232 COHAT procedures for our dog and cat patients this past year! 🐶🐱 A COHAT (Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment) is so much more than a cleaning because it focuses on total health and safety. Every pet receives pre-anesthetic bloodwork, a heart workup if a murmur is present, and a dedicated three-person medical team consisting of one doctor and two technicians to provide excellent monitoring and care. 🩺 By using full dental radiographs on every patient, we can see exactly what is happening beneath the gumline. This allowed us to find and treat over 400 painful or diseased teeth this year, including 20 canines, 116 incisors, 165 premolars, 118 molars, and 28 baby teeth that were causing issues. 🦷 Most pets stay healthy with one of these professional assessments once a year, though four of our patients actually needed two procedures this year to get their mouths back to a pain-free state. We love helping our feline and canine friends live happier, healthier lives with fresh breath and comfortable smiles! 😊🦷✨
