It is no coincidence that June is National Adopt a Cat Month and is also at the height of kitten season.
Shelters and rescues are full and there are more kittens and cats in need of loving homes than willing adopters. Please consider helping by adopting, fostering, or volunteering at your local shelter or rescue so more homeless cats can find their furever homes.

June is also global Pride Month dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and advocating for equal rights. We also celebrate the bond between LGBTQ+ pet owners and their pets which often go very deep, as pets provide vital mental health support, unconditional love, and a buffer against discrimination and stress.

Today is National Heat Awareness Day so make sure to keep yourself and your pets safe. Stay hydrated, rest often if outdoors, and NEVER leave your pet in a parked car. The local high today is estimated to be 91 degrees.

When it is 91°F outside, the interior of a parked car can heat up to 109°F in just 10 minutes and reach a staggering 130°F to 140°F within 30 minutes. The greenhouse effect in a vehicle means that deadly temperatures accumulate rapidly regardless of the exterior temperature.

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heat exhaustion or heat stroke, we are here for you 24 hours a day.

On Memorial Day weekend we remember the brave soldiers who served our country and gave their lives. We also remember the working animals who stood beside them. While Memorial Day honors fallen military personnel, it’s also a time to recognize the silent heroes; military working dogs.
On behalf of the staff at Airport Freeway Animal Emergency,
THANK YOU to all our military heroes!

On May 20th we celebrate the rescue dogs who turned a second chance into unconditional love. They may not have started life with comfort and kindness, but they teach us every day about resilience, trust, and joy. Whether they came from a shelter, the streets, or a rescue organization, these dogs don’t just find homes. They change lives. They are a reminder that love can truly save us too.
In honor of National Rescue Dog Day, we’d love to see and hear about your rescue dogs like Marceline who was rescued by our practice manager.

Sometimes mommas need a little help giving birth. If your pet is ever in that situation, we are here to help 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This sweet momma needed a life saving, emergency C-section and we were able to deliver 3 healthy kittens. Both momma and the babies are all doing well at home the owner reports. These moments make the hard times in emergency medicine a little easier. ❤️

Who remembers our former clinic cat Ned? Since his retirement in 2023, Ned has resided with one of our staff
and her family. He continues to live a pampered life with plenty of belly
rubs, laundry baskets to burrow in, and many Temptations treats. If he ever comforted your nerves, soothed your broken heart, donated blood to
save your cat’s life, or just made you smile, send some love his way!

May is microchipping awareness month, so make sure you protect your pets should they ever become lost.
1 in 3 pets will go missing at some point in their lives, and microchipping is the most effective way to make sure they get home safely. It serves as permanent identification so make sure you keep your contact information up to date. If you've had a pet go missing that was returned because of their microchip? Please share your story!
