Happy Halloween from all of us at Clinton Veterinary Hospital! 🎃

A few quick reminders for tonight. Keep the candy bowl out of reach, since chocolate and xylitol are both dangerous for pets. Watch the door as trick-or-treaters come and go, because it only takes one open door for a spooked pet to bolt. Make sure ID tags and microchip information are up to date, just in case.

Costume check! Is your pet actually comfy in there? 🍄

Before the costume comes out on Halloween, watch how your pet moves in it. It should not restrict breathing, block vision, or limit walking, and there should be no dangling pieces they can chew off and swallow. Do a short trial run at home first. If your pet freezes, tries to back out of it, or scratches at it, that is a no.

Plenty of pets are happier in a festive bandana, and that counts.
