Update on the progress since the fire on July 5th: With the help of Servicemaster, who have been amazing in getting us back to business, we are now open for clients and patients. Unfortunately, the reception area was destroyed by the fire and water damage, but we have rearranged the lab area of the hospital with a temporary reception section and are doing our best to continue to provide excellent service to all our wonderful clients. A huge thank you to the AMAZING staff at DRAH - Bonnie, Shauna, Chad, Reier, Dave and Dr. Chris who have diligently worked to get us back up and running. Thank you all for your well wishes and hope to see you soon. Photo of our first appointment upon reopening - love those puppies!

Update as we work to restore service at our hospital. Power and water are back on in the building and the contractors to clean up and restore the building have been wonderful. Bill at Servicemaster and Morrow Enterprises has been there every day since the fire on Saturday and Tim from Top Knotch Electric has also been working hard to get our power restored. We will be able to work out of one wing of the building tomorrow and Friday and hopefully have the surgery and xray suite available by Monday. Reception, which is the middle of the building, suffered the most damage and will require total demolition and renovation. That area will be off limits for several months. However, we hope to have clients back in the building next week, and are rearranging the flow of the Hospital to work it all out. Thank you to our clients and friends for your continued support and patience!

Mixed news on the results of the fire. There are A LOT of walls and ceilings that have to be demolished. All of reception, including the desk, is on the demo list. The ceilings on both exam rooms also. The exam room walls, however, might be saved. The electrician is coming today and trying to isolate the 2 wings of the hospital... so we can use the lab area, set up a temporary exam section (the exam rooms are off limits) AND still use xray and surgery. I am not planning on doing any surgery initially but it's nice to know we will have the option. We hope to have some small ability to see patients by Wednesday or Thursday this week. Thank you again to all my clients for your patience and understanding. We will continue to post updates here.

To the clients and friends of Deep River Animal Hospital: on Saturday July 5th there was a small fire located on the second floor of the Hospital. The sprinkler system did its job and extinguished the fire. However, there was significant damage from the water released by the system. There is damage to walls, ceilings and floors and the entire reception area is destroyed. Our patient records remain accessible. No one, including Ellie Mae, our hospital cat, nor our salt water fish, was injured. They have been relocated to a safe place. The building cannot be occupied at this time. We are meeting with insurance and contractors on Monday to determine how quickly to expect repairs and plan to reopen. Meanwhile, we are looking into alternative options such as a work trailer on property so as to have minimal interruption of service. At this time we are closed to clients on Monday, July 7. We will update here as to when we can reopen. For those clients who have frozen semen stored at the hospital, it remains safe and secure. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and patience at this difficult time.
