Northeast Ohio SPCA No-Kill Pet Shelter

Northeast Ohio SPCA No-Kill Pet Shelter Through adoption, spay and neuter, and education, we save lives to make euthanasia of healthy animals unnecessary.

The purpose of the Northeast Ohio SPCA no-kill Pet Shelter is to provide a safe haven for abandoned, healthy homeless, and adoptable loving pets until they can find a home. The shelter opened in April of 2004 and has since adopted out 43,000 pets in the community as of 2023. The Northeast Ohio SPCA is a non-profit, private agency and receives no government funding. The shelter relies on donations and support from members in the community.

A great guide to cat introductions!

A great guide to cat introductions!

STOP rushing cat intros. ๐Ÿฑโณ

A new cat or kitten does not need to โ€œwork it outโ€ with your resident pets on day one.

Most failed introductions happen because people move too fast.

Start with:
๐Ÿšช Separate room
๐Ÿ‘ƒ Scent swapping
๐Ÿ‘€ Visual intros
๐Ÿพ Short supervised visits

Hissing, hiding, growling, and avoiding each other can be normal at first.

The goal is safe, slow, and positive โ€” not forced friendship overnight.

Save this before bringing home a new cat. ๐Ÿ’œ

So this is Goose (aka Goosey, aka Your Loudest Complaint Department Manager).

Goose is a 10-year-old long-haired diva cat who has officially had it. With everything. At all times.

Shelter life? Not for him.
Other animals? Absolutely not.
Noise? Just No.
Vibes? Disrespectful.

Goose is neutered, vaccinated, and fully committed to being mad.
His hobbies include:
๐Ÿช‘ slapping his feline neighbors
๐Ÿชด Telling kids to stay off his lawn (even if there is no lawn???)
๐Ÿ“ฆ Complaining about litterbox conditions and management
๐ŸŽญ teetering between amazingly sassy to sweet as sugar

And yetโ€ฆ he is undeniably handsome. He is fabulous. He is giving โ€œretired old man who writes strongly worded letters.โ€

Goose would thrive in a quiet, adult-only home where his opinions are respected and his personal space is honored at all times. Heโ€™s not here to be everyoneโ€™s cat.
Heโ€™s here to be one person's domestic monarch.
If youโ€™ve ever wanted to be judged lovingly by a fluffy seniorโ€ฆ Goose is ready. ๐Ÿ–ค

๐Ÿธ Have you ever looked at a dog and immediately thought, "Yep. That's basically Kermit the Frog"?

Because that's Frogbit.

This goofy little guy is a 4-5 month old lab mix who has somehow been waiting for a home since late April, and honestly, we're starting to take it personally.

Frogbit is neutered, vaccinated, and ready to bring absolute chaos and joy to his future family.

Let's review the evidence:

๐Ÿธ Has a face that is somehow both adorable and ridiculous.
๐Ÿธ Is a world-class hugger.
๐Ÿธ Loves toys with his entire heart.
๐Ÿธ Appears to get along well with other dogs.
๐Ÿธ Keeps his kennel surprisingly neat.
๐Ÿธ Plays like he was fueled by three energy drinks and poor decisions.
๐Ÿธ Barks at his own reflection.

And when we say he barks at his reflection, we mean he is COMMITTED to the bit. In fact, we're pretty sure the reason he splashes around in his water bowl is because he likes seeing the mysterious puppy who lives in it.

Frogbit is still very much a puppy. He's curious, playful, goofy, and occasionally convinced that the dog in the mirror is plotting something.

He's the kind of dog who will make you laugh every single day.

So if you've been looking for a best friend, a cuddle buddy, a toy enthusiast, and a part-time water bowl investigator, Frogbit may be exactly who you're looking for.

Seriously. Look at that face. We can't believe he's still here. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š

Look. We know exactly what we're doing. ๐ŸŽถ The sad music? Intentional. The clips of a dog with the saddest puppy eyes you've ever seen? we got it. The emotional manipulation? We won't even pretend otherwise.

Because this is Eggbert, and frankly, we're getting a little desperate for someone to give this sweet boy a chance. โค๏ธ

Eggbert is an 8-9 month old hound mix who came to us from the South and has been patiently waiting for his family since April. He's neutered, vaccinated, and ready to go home.

Now, if you're looking for the dog who confidently struts into every room like he owns the place, that's just not Eggbert. Eggbert is the dog standing a few feet back, trying to figure out if everything is okay first.

He's shy. He's reserved. He's still learning that the world isn't such a scary place. Leash walking is a work in progress. New things can be overwhelming. But beneath all of that is a genuinely sweet puppy who wants so badly to be brave.

He's food motivated, loves his kennel staff, enjoys his toys, and firmly believes that stuffed animals shouldn't ever remain stuffed for long.

What Eggbert needs is simple: a gentle hand, patience, kindness, and someone willing to help him build confidence at his own pace. A meet and greet with other pets and family is always recommended.

And That's exactly why we're over here putting sad music behind videos of him. Because while louder, bolder dogs get noticed, sweet dogs like Eggbert sometimes get overlooked. So consider this your official guilt trip and come down and give Eggbert his chance!
