A 1910s-1920s French-inspired foster space for rescued cats and kittens...We are Chico's Cat Curiosity Shop! Curl up and cuddle with wonderfully sweet kitties in a relaxing, themed cafe-style environment. These are all adoptable cats and kittens from local rescues who need a forever home! If the cuteness overload works up your thirst, we’ve partnered with a cat-tastic coffee roaster to provide you

with a delicious custom roast that you will love. Since we don’t prepare food or drinks inside our space, you don’t have to worry -- our place is clean, safe, and all about the kitties. As Chico’s only cat cafe, we at Chico Cat Cafe are incredibly delighted to bring the cat experience concept to the North State for the first time! Meet Kiwi 🥝!

Found during a large TNR project in Oroville, this sweet little 4-month-old boy didn’t act like a typical feral kitten. Instead of hiding, he (and a few of his other siblings who were adopted recently through the cafe!) came right up like they'd been waiting their whole short lives for someone to notice them. So our rescue did. They scooped them up, placed them in loving foster homes, and watched them bloom.

Now, this little guy is ready to plant roots in his forever home—with purrs, playtime, and plenty of personality to go around, bringing joy, mischief, and a whole lot of love int your life!

Kiwi is a sweet little sunshine sprite—always vying for attention, always up for a good game of pounce or snuggle. He has perfected the “hold me forever” technique and pairs it beautifully with non-stop purring. He just can’t get enough of lap time and seems to lure you in with his gorgeous green eyes. He is using his kitten ESP to say “ADOPT ME NOW!”. Basically, he's your new emotional support fruit 😻🐈‍⬛

Meet Cole & Damon!

🖤🐾 Dark Brothers in Mischief 🐾🖤

Found in a dumpster at just weeks old, these two black-furred brothers have turned their rough start into a nonstop adventure of play, pounce, and pure kitten comedy. At 3.5 months old, Cole and Damon are the ultimate duo—different personalities, but the same mission: to bring endless fun (and naps) into your life.

😺 Cole is the shy guy of the pair—he takes a little time to warm up, but once he does, he’s a playful sneak-attack specialist. He loves chasing the other kittens, and even the big cats aren’t safe from his pounce games! Give him a little patience and you’ll discover a loyal little buddy who plays hard and then crashes for the sweetest naps.

😸 Damon is the bold adventurer. His goofy bent tail tip and hilarious bunny-like “hops” make him the life of the party. He’ll chase anyone, anywhere—kittens, big cats, even imaginary friends—and has zero shame about collapsing mid-game into a dramatic nap pile.

Together, Cole and Damon are pure entertainment: playful, affectionate, great with kids, and absolute experts at turning ordinary days into laugh-out-loud moments. Whether adopted as a pair or separately, these dumpster-to-dream-home brothers are ready to bring joy, chaos, and love into their forever families. 💕😻😻🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

Love kittens? This rescue partner has some of the coolest kittens in the neighborhood! Neighborhood Cat Advocates, is POPPING with kittens!! So…what does a cat café do when faced with this crisis of cuteness???? We hold a Kitten PAWP-UP ADOPTION FAIRE!

WHERE: Chico Cat Café 1725 Esplanade in Chico
WHEN: SUNDAY, August 31st from 11am-3pm

HELP US CELEBRATE NEIGHBORHOOD CAT ADVOCATE’S WORK:
Neighborhood Cat Advocates will be showcasing the CUTEST selection of kittens (and a few wonderful adult cats) in our cat lounge in addition to the 12 + cats and kittens already calling our cozy space their temporary home.

Neighborhood Cat Advocates's mission is to advocate on behalf of Butte County's free-roaming cats by practicing Trap-Neuter-Return. Starting off as a TNR community support service, they have now expanded to include PawPrints Spay/Neuter Clinic and PawPrints Thrift Boutique! They have started to partner with us to help place their friendly TNR kitties into pawsome homes and have adopted 80+ cats through the cafe since last fall! Come down and meet them and their kittens - let's help them place these needy kitties into amazing cat-loving homes!

This Kitten season has been a doozy – it has produced hundreds, if not thousands, of unplanned litters and in partnership to help find the perfect homes for these fantastic young felines in our community, we’re hosting this event this summer for them. All felines are friendly, vaccinated (initial doses), dewormed, deflea-ed, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.

HOW DOES THE EVENT WORK?
During our event, we will NOT be having folks reserve a spot in the cat lounge. So, walk-ins are welcome! $10 per person gets you an hour of cat time and light refreshments.

All kittens and their bios will be showcased on our website at www.chicocatcafe.com AND our page (see this post pinned to the top of the page). Adoption fees are $150 per kitten or $225 pair.

If you are interested in adopting, please observe the following:
1. Pick up an application at Chico Cat Café located at 1725 Esplanade in Chico. Fill out ASAP and return so we may get it to our rescue in time for the event to “pre-approve” you after visiting the kittens online! -OR-
2. NCA will be accepting applications on site for review the week following the event. They will be reaching out to applicants for interviews and potential adoptions as soon as they can! They will not be approving same-day adoptions.
3. Kittens and cats available for adoption through the event will be waiting to meet you in giant kitten cages once you get inside. Cats who are residents of the cafe will be loose roaming around on our floor.
4. Please ask to hold event kittens and cats, sanitize your hands prior to handling them and in between to help ensure everyone's safety, and please don't put them down on the floor with the cafe cats - THANK YOU 🥰

ADOPTION # 320: Josie!

🌸 Josie Has Found Her Forever! 🌸

This gorgeous long-haired beauty may have only been with us for a short time, but she certainly made an impression. Sweet Josie quickly became known as our resident talker—chatting away in the lounge, greeting visitors with her spunky personality, and reminding us daily just how much love she had to give. 💕

Josie’s journey hasn’t been easy. Our rescue partner saved her after she was carelessly tossed out like garbage—shortly after giving birth, no less. Her kittens were kept, but Josie was discarded. Thankfully, compassion stepped in, and with the care she received—spay, vaccines, flea and worm treatments, and triple testing—she was given a second chance at the happy ending she deserved.

At just 1.5 years old, Josie is finally getting that chance. She has officially been adopted into a forever home where she will never again be overlooked or thrown away. Instead, she’ll be cherished for her chatty meows, her spunky, loving nature, and the endless warmth she brings to every room.

Congratulations, Josie—you’ve turned heartbreak into hope, and we couldn’t be happier for you. May your days ahead be filled with love, comfort, and plenty of conversations with your new family. 🌸🐾😻🐈‍⬛

ADOPTION #319: Cane (Sugar Cane)!

🌾 Cane Has Found His Forever Home! 🐾

From his very first days, Cane’s journey was one of resilience and love. Born to a feral mama in the quiet corners of Northern California, Cane didn’t come into the world with much—but with the help of kind rescuers and foster families, he grew into the confident, affectionate boy we came to know and adore.

At just 5 months old, Cane already stood out for his gentle, easygoing nature. He was the extrovert of the pair—curious, playful, and quick to purr the moment you reached out for him.

While his foster brother Molasses brought the slow blinks and cozy snuggles, Cane balanced things with his brave spirit and heart-on-his-sleeve affection. He loved to meander over just to be near you, offering his quiet companionship without demands—just the steady, reassuring comfort of a loyal friend.

Cane and Molasses weren’t siblings by blood, but they shared a bond that felt unshakable—growing up side by side as though they were always meant to. Now, with both boys adopted, we couldn’t be happier knowing that Cane, too, has found his forever family.

ADOPTION #318: Molasses!

🍯 Molasses Has Found His Sweet Forever! 🐾

From the quiet corners of Northern California to the cozy laps of his foster family, Molasses has been on quite the journey—and today we get to celebrate his happiest chapter yet: he’s been adopted!

Molasses didn’t have the easiest start in life, born to a feral mama with no guarantees of comfort or safety. But thanks to the kindness of rescuers and fosters, this soft, long-haired boy grew up knowing love, play, and the simple joys of being cared for.

Over the week or two, he has showed us who he truly is: a gentle kitten with a calm spirit, a steady purr, and a way of melting into your arms as if he’s always belonged there.

While he loved to play—especially chasing toys and tumbling with his foster siblings—Molasses’s true gift was the way he slowed the world down. He was all about soft headbutts, slow blinks, and cozy naps at the end of the day. He reminded us daily that life is better when savored, when we take time to enjoy the sweetness right in front of us.

Now, Molasses has found his forever family—a home where he will always be cherished, where his gentle nature and loving ways will be celebrated every single day. We know he’ll continue to bring warmth, comfort, and so much joy to the people lucky enough to call him theirs.
