This sweet girl is Cricket, estimated to be 1-2 years old. She was found as a stray in Bakersfield, and it was clear she needed help – her front right leg was severely broken and had been that way for some time, sadly fusing in the wrong direction. 💔
After careful consideration, the best path forward for Cricket is amputation of her front leg. This will allow her to finally live a life without pain and move freely! She's scheduled for surgery and we're hopeful for a smooth recovery.
Cricket is a little shy at first, but once she knows you, she blossoms into a very sweet companion. We haven't tested her with dogs yet, and she does not like cats.
Cricket has a journey of recovery ahead and urgently needs a loving foster home here in the Chico area who can provide a calm and supportive environment. This special foster would need to bring her to her routine post-surgery check-ups (at Chico Pet Vet) and give her all the TLC she deserves while she heals.

Abandoned after losing his vision

Imagine a lifetime of loyalty, only to find yourself abandoned in your senior years after losing your vision. That's Rubble's story. This incredibly sweet, 11-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix came to us from a Los Angeles shelter after his family gave him up because he had lost his vision and was no longer getting along with the younger dog in the home. Their solution?
Taking Rubble to a high kill shelter.

He lost his vision, his home, his family. Everything he has known for TEN years is now gone.

Rubble craves human affection and attention, he cries in his kennel every day.

Medical Monday: Meet Chevy!
This sweet 1-year-old Chihuahua mix has had a tough start to life. Found limping on a busy street in Modesto, x-rays revealed a broken leg and a fractured right ilium. While we're hoping the fracture will heal on its own, his left leg will likely require amputation.
Despite his pain, Chevy has been incredibly brave. He has a journey of recovery ahead and urgently needs a loving foster home here in the Chico area. This special foster would need to bring him to his regular check-ups (at Chico Pet vet) and provide the gentle TLC he deserves while he heals.

Hey look at me!! Now that I have your attention, let me tell you my story. My name is Oakley and I have had a bit of a rough patch. Got hit by a car, which, let's be honest, wasn't my finest moment. Then, I ended up in a super busy shelter. Lots of noise, lots of dogs, and my leg was badly hurt. The shelter I was in was very overwhelmed, and, well, let's just say my leg situation wasn't helping my chances of getting adopted.
Luckily, some awesome people from a rescue stepped in! They saw something in me, and they got me the surgery I needed. And guess what? I'm all better now!
Seriously, I'm like a whole new dog! I'm happy, I'm healthy, and I'm super playful. I love toys, I love attention, and I'm just looking for someone to share all that love with.
Now, a few things you should know: I'm dog selective, so I might need some slow introductions to new dog friends. And definitely no cats for me!

💔 Kiya Journey: Seeking a True Forever Home 💔
Kiya's story is one of broken promises and longing for a place to call her own. She first came to us as a playful puppy in 2019 and was quickly adopted, only to be rehomed to another family. After six years, Kiya was found as a stray, abandoned and brought back to our rescue. We can't understand how someone could give up such a loving dog.
Kiya, now about 6 years old and 70 lbs, is a gentle and affectionate girl who loves everyone she meets. She gets along well with other dogs with proper introductions, making her a wonderful companion.
After two "forever homes" fell through, Kiya deserves a real chance at happiness. She needs a stable, loving family who will cherish her for the rest of her days. She's been through so much, and all she wants is to give and receive love.
