Did you know on November 23rd, SANTA is coming to town to take photos of you with your pets from 12-4PM?!

We wanted to give you the opportunity to come grab your holiday photo, then to drop off your doggos to come back for delicious drinks, food and shopping from 4-8 PM!

Feel free to park at our store to walk downtown, but don’t forget to pop into NSM! There’s going to be more than just doggo / cat items available to browse through 👏🏻

Starting November 23rd, you can come in and select any gift for a furry friend at one of your favorite shelters! (25% off anything you purchase for a shelter animal!)

We will wrap them, and it will go directly to that facility. All you need to do is do some shopping, put your name on it and put the shelter of your choice on your label! We cannot wait to bring more joy to our local animal shelters 🐶 🐱

✨ We Are Downtown Chico ✨
This week, we’re featuring one of Downtown Chico’s most historic gems — Northern Star Mills. 🌾

Located where The Esplanade meets Big Chico Creek, Northern Star Mills has been part of Chico’s story for more than a century. Once a working flour mill serving local farmers, it’s been family-run since 1928 — and today, that legacy continues under the care of David Jespersen.

A proud Chico State graduate, David has worked at Northern Star Mills for over 12 years before officially taking ownership two years ago. For David, his wife Delphine, and their daughter Aili, it’s still a family affair — Aili (age 4!) loves helping at the register, and Delphine brings her creative touch to the shop’s marketing and social media. 💛

When asked what they love about being downtown, David shared:
“Being in downtown Chico is such a great way to showcase small businesses! From great food to awesome pet stores (not to be biased) — we really have such a great community down here.”

And with the holidays around the corner, it’s the perfect time to visit! Their favorite event — Christmas Preview — is happening Sunday, Nov. 23, from 4–8 pm. 🎄✨ Northern Star Mills will be open and ready to welcome you for one of downtown’s most magical traditions.

To wrap up our Halloween extravaganza, we had to share that our winner of the costume contest (per Aili’s selection) was Roscoe, the construction worker!! It took us so long because she couldn’t make up her mind… but we couldn’t help but give some love to this sweet boy in his khaki shorts and awesome construction tools!
