Disasters and emergencies can happen when we least expect them. The best time to prepare for your pet is before an emergency strikes!

Pet Emergency Preparedness Checklist:
•Keep at least 3–7 days of food and water on hand
•Pack medications and medical records in a waterproof bag
•Include a leash, collar, harness, and carrier
•Keep recent photos of your pet for identification purposes
•Make sure ID tags and microchip information are up to date
•Have comfort items ready, like a favorite toy or blanket

💡 Pro Tip: Create two emergency kits! One for home and one travel ready kit in case you need to evacuate quickly.

Rising temps can be dangerous for our furry friends! Heat stroke in pets can happen FAST, so knowing the warning signs could save a life. 🐾 Keep your pets cool, safe, and summer-ready with these tips:

🐶🐱 Signs of overheating:
•Excessive panting
•Drooling more than usual
•Bright red gums or tongue
•Vomiting or diarrhea
•Weakness, stumbling, or collapse

Heat safety tips:
•Always provide fresh, cool water 💧
•Avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day
•Test pavement with your hand before walks
•Never leave pets in parked cars, even for a minute 🚗☀️
•Make sure outdoor pets have shade and airflow

⚠️ If your pet seems overheated:
•Move them to a cool area immediately
•Offer small amounts of water
•Use cool (not ice cold) towels on paws and belly
•Contact your veterinarian right away

Hot weather can become dangerous for pets FAST. Especially puppies/kittens, senior pets, overweight pets, and flat-faced breeds like Bulldogs or Pugs. Even temperatures in the 70s–80s can increase heat risk during outdoor activity! Here are some HOT weather safety tips to help keep your pets cool and safe this week👇

🔥 HEAT SAFETY TIPS:
•Provide plenty of fresh water & shade
•Walk pets during cooler morning/evening hours
•Check pavement before walks, if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
•Never leave pets in parked cars
•Keep outdoor play short and offer cooling breaks often

⚠️ SIGNS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION:
Excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, trouble breathing, or collapse.

If your pet seems overheated:

Did you know that 1 in 3 pets will go missing at some point in their life? A microchip can help bring them safely back home!

📊Here are some quick microchip facts every pet parent should know:
•A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice
•It is NOT a GPS tracker
•Implantation is quick, safe, and similar to a vaccine
•Microchipped pets are much more likely to reunite with their families
•Your contact information MUST stay updated for the chip to work properly
•We recommend having your pet’s chip scanned yearly to make sure it’s working

⚠️ Important reminder:
A microchip only works if it’s REGISTERED and linked to your current contact information!

💡If your pet ever goes missing:
•Report your pet missing to the microchip registry
•Share recent photos and identifying details online and locally
