Everyone has their favorite color, but we’re pretty partial to a slicked off bay.

Zinger is one of our homebred polo mares, she is the first Small Change foal, out of one of our best producing OTTB mares. Zinger is a great granddaughter of Northern Dancer and a granddaughter of Meadowlake. She has been retained as a broodmare and so far has given us a phenomenal 2022 chestnut filly by “Dolfina Ledgendario”.
She will be bred this spring!

We are anxiously awaiting foaling/breeding season with our first mare due April 27th!

Until then we’re reminiscing warmer weather, green fields and shiny polo ponies.

Miss Kitty and Feathers had their first rides in a snaffle today! This makes Feathers third ride and Miss Kitty’s second ride!

We a firm believer in putting the time on a young one on the ground first. Both these fillies were drove on the ground for about a month. It helps to install a couple buttons and gets the silliness out of one before you get on.

We couldn’t be prouder of these girls. They are the last Small Change foals ever. You can see a lot of change in both fillies. Kitty is out of our made OTTB polo pony, Pixie Stix. Feathers is out of our OTTQH mare, Margarita.

“JMH Whippoorwill” aka Feathers a 2022 Black/Grey AQHA Appendix filly by Small Change (North Rock) out of Devon’s Flying Pie (Devon’s Signature) We wish all two coming three year olds rode around like this for their first couple rides. We a had a camera malfunction for this filly’s first ride, luckily her second ride was the same. Uneventful and easy. Like a typical Change baby. Feathers is our last AQHA Appendix baby by Small Change and his only grey. Her dam is our good OTTQH Barrel mare, Margarita. She has so much of both her sire and dam’s good qualities. Our other two coming three year old “Kittywhistle” aka Miss Kitty who also by Small Change (North Rock) out of our OTTB made Polo Pony mare, Holykitty (Bionidetti) has also had her first ride. “The Cisco Kidd” 2020 Bay AQHA Appendix Stallion by Small Change (North Rock) out of Devon’s Flying Pie (Devon’s Signature)

Cisco looks just as good in a flat saddle as he does in a stock saddle. If you know Cisco, you know he’s a big ham and loves the camera. It does help there was cute fillies standing tied behind him to show off for 😉

While his focus is mainly roping right now, it’s good to give him something else todo every once in a while. He gets to chase something whether it be a Polo ball or a steer. He seems to enjoy both pretty well and we’re pretty excited to see what he can do in the arena and on the field!

“Kittywhistle” aka Miss Kitty a 2022 Bay JC Thoroughbred filly by Small Change (North Rock) out of Holykitty (Bionidetti)

Kitty is very much in need of a haircut but if you knew Kitty it’s very fitting of her personality to rock a mohawk. She is also coming three years old in June. Like her half sister, she has been started and will be getting her first rides soon! She’s also in a bit of a wonky growing stage.

Kitty is our last full TB by our late stallion, “Small Change”. She is out of our made OTTB polo pony, “Holykitty” aka Pixie Stix. This filly was bred to be a polo pony. We can’t not wait to see her on the field.

Shes very special to us and has been retained as a personal polo pony. Her dam has been bred for a 2025 sibling!

“JMH Whippoorwill” aka Feathers a 2022 Grey AQHA Appendix Filly by Small Change (North Rock) out of Devon’s Flying Pie (Devon’s Signature)

Feathers is a coming three year old full sister to our junior stallion, “The Cisco Kidd”. While you can tell they are related, they couldn’t look anymore different. Feathers got more of her dams characteristics and Cisco took more after their sire.

This filly has been retained for a personal polo pony and possible rope horse. This has been one of our favorite crosses. Feathers is Polo/Race bred TB on top and old school running QH on the bottom. She and Cisco are the only two Appendix QH’s Small Change sired. She is also his only grey.

Feathers has been started and is proving to be just like her brother, quiet and so willing. She will be having her first rides soon! She is in the middle of another growth spurt. She officially won’t be three till June so she still has a lot of growing todo!

“The Cisco Kidd” aka Cisco is our only AQHA Appendix c**t by Small Change (North Rock) out of our OTTQH mare Devon’s Flying Pie (Devon’s Signature).

He’s been learning the “ropes” in CA for the past couple months and is on track to start roping live cattle in the next coming weeks.

Cisco is a unique mix of polo/race bred Thoroughbred and old school running QH blood. He’s not only a great grandson of Northern Dancer on his sires side but a great grandson of Pie In The Sky on his dam side as well.

For us, It takes a lot more than just proven ability and conformation to make a stallion. The number one thing we look for is disposition, and boy this stud c**t has one of the nicest minds we’ve had the pleasure of raising and being around.

We have big goals for this guy. He’s already exceeding expectations and showing just how nice our lines cross on stock horse blood. Cisco is roughly over 75% Thoroughbred.

While he was bred to be a Polo Pony, which he will see a polo field, in order to accomplish what we want todo with his breeding career after his performance career, he has to earn his Register of Merritt or ROM. To do that he needs to earn 10 or more points showing through AQHA. Cisco has had half sisters make great rope/ ranch horses as well as his dam. So far he’s proving to have what it takes and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

We love a unique name, so much so that we often have foal name stick to the broodmares name or have a theme for the foal crop. For example, all of the foals out of our OTTQH mare, “Devon’s Flying Pie” aka Margarita, are named for famous movie Cowboys or Cowgirls.

This year was no different. Our OTTB mare, “Meanerthanthedevil” was given the barn name Moxx, after a character in one of our favorite movies “Varsity Blues”. We had several “Varsity Blues” names picked out for her 2024 filly. She was just assigned one today. While it’s not the one we hoped for, it’s still a fantastic name!

Say hello officially, to “Ilovethatdog” aka Billie Bob (BB for short) a 2024 Chestnut JC Thoroughbred filly by Hess Max A Million (Small Change) out of Meanerthanthedevil (Kick On”

We sure do love BB, she’s the first foal for our junior stallion, Hess Max A Million and the first foal for Moxx. This filly will be a phenomenal Polo prospect or an all around prospect. She will be available this spring!

Our first mare is due end of April, the rest follow behind in May.

“Crown H Roja” by Dolfina Legendario (Aiken Cura E01) out of Zinger (Small Change) We are missing the warmer weather, green pastures and slicked off babies. This filly is the first out cross of our Polo lines on modern Polo lines. She is a granddaughter of Dolfina Cuartetera (genetically) and Aiken Cura (genetically). She is also a great, great granddaughter of Northern Dancer. This filly is 100% polo bred. She is one of the prettiest and most athletic foals we have raised. Shes a coming two year old and we are so excited to start her late spring. We are expecting a Dolfina Popular foal this spring who is very closely related to Roja.

“Change My Mojo” a 2016 Black APHA Appendix stallion by Small Change (North Rock) out of Mischiefs Sacred Indian (Sacred Indian)

For all those horse kids that read Walter Farley’s, “The Black Stallion”, and dreamed of having their own, we thought we’d show off ours.

We are expecting two Mojo foals this spring! He is bred to our OTTQH mare and one of our OTTB Polo Pony mares.

Mojo is by our late stallion, Small Change, and out of the last own daughter of the World Champion APHA stallion Sacred Indian. Making Mojo a great grandson of Northern Dancer and a grandson of Sacred Indian.

He’s a unique cross of our Polo lines on cow/ running bred Paint lines. We cannot wait to see how he crosses on Pixie Stix and Margarita.

We have one over the half way mark and the others are getting close!

Pixie Stix is our OTTB made polo pony mare and she’s at 154 days. She is bred to our APHA Appendix stallion, “Change My Mojo”. This foal has a 50 % chance of being grey and has no chance of being red.

Minnie is our newest addition, she is also a OTTB and a daughter of the recently retired, Big Brown. She is bred to Sapo Caset’s Polo stallion, “Dolfina Popular”. She is at 145 days.This foal will be close related to our yearling filly, “Crown H Roja”.

Smack is carrying a foal by our stallion, “Hess Bodidldy”. She is also a OTTB. This is her first foal and we’re hoping she passes her lovely long legs and personality. Shes at 150 days!

And last but not least is Rita, our OTTQH mare. She is also bred to our stallion, “Change My Mojo”. We have the same color chances with her as we do pixie. We are very excited for this baby. Rita sadly lost her 2023 foal in utero and so far everything with this foal has been textbook. She is our first due and is at 179 days!

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Zesterra tub? We’re not exactly sure but Roja sure is working hard to find out.
