SURGERY UPDATE: What a champ! šŸ† Every day, our sweet ā€œWhat a Dudeā€ proves he has the heart of a true winner. Dude recently underwent major surgery on his left front leg. He required lag screw fixation to repair a chronic, displaced lateral condylar fracture. This crucial procedure compresses the bone fragments, giving him absolute stability so he can heal safely. šŸ’ŖšŸ“ Our incredible staff and volunteers are working around the clockā€”managing specialized stalls, changing dressings, administering medicine, and pouring love into his constant care. They have truly SHOWN UP! We are deeply grateful to Dudeā€™s previous owner for working with us during this transition, and to our amazing community of volunteers, donors, and animal advocates. You are changing this Thoroughbredā€™s future! Stay tuned for his recovery journey!

To our dedicated volunteers who provided comfort and prayers, THANK YOU! And above all, we thank our extraordinary equine community who selflessly prioritized this majestic thoroughbreds well-being and worked tirelessly to bring him to us, our gratitude knows no bounds! You never forget the moment you realize a horseā€˜s life is about to change forever. Thatā€™s exactly what happened last night when we met WHAT A DUDE, a seven-year-old thoroughbred whose world shifted the moment he stepped off the trailer.

Healing Hearts, together with several incredible animal advocates, stepped in to give this sweet boy the second chance he deserves. Heā€™s facing some injuries ā€“ and may need surgery ā€“ but he is surrounded by people fighting for his future.

Today, we are especially grateful to his owner for reaching out, and choosing compassion. That single act opened the door to safety, healing, and hope.

WHAT A DUDEā€™s journey is just the beginning ā€“ and itā€™s a powerful reminder that when a community shows up, our rescued horses donā€™t just survive, they thrive. His story is unfolding, and will share the next part later this week!! Together, WE are Healing Hearts. ā¤ļø
