With our hearts still healing from the passing of our beloved founder, Betty, we do what we do best: Save animals most in need. Today we celebrate her life, but we also continue to live our mission and make a significant life impact for abused and neglected animals. As we celebrate and participate in Arizona Gives, we remember our WHY. We remember those we have SAVED. We REFLECT and have HOPE for the future of the thousands of animals we can help SURVIVE. In 20 years, we have not seen so many equines come to us without prior medical care, even basic care. It’s disheartening and emotionally heavy for all our dedicated caretakers and volunteers. To our dear Healing Hearts Family:
It is with heavy hearts we share with you the passing of our Founder, Betty Welton. If you were lucky enough to know her over these last 20 years, you know the deep passion she had for every animal big and small. In the early 2000’s, she saw a desperate need in our state to assist farm animals, specifically horses, with so many at risk with little to no resources. Her passion lead to this amazing organization, which she was so very proud of. She was proud of our community, our volunteers, our adopters, our supporters- everyone who gave Healing Hearts and our animals a chance to live a better life. And for that, WE thank you. Her legacy will always remain and our compassion for animals will never waiver. Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Healing Hearts in Betty’s name. www.healingheartsaz.org

We are so excited to welcome these two little munchkins into Healing Hearts today! Once dumped at a killpen, they had an angel in Singing Whale Rescue & Rehabilitation LLC (from Hawaii!) who coordinated with FarmHouse Fresh Animal Sanctuary to foster them until they were ready to travel!! Well, the time has come for these precious boys to make their way through our gates and find their forever homes! More to come! Together, WE are Healing Hearts.

A Healing Hearts story of hope ❤️ Meet Bones.
In 2014, Healing Hearts was called out to a horrific sight. 3 horses, barely alive, were living in dilapidated "stalls" with no access to food or water. Bones, was one of them. After months of rehabbing, and recovering from a body score of 1 (!!!), Bones meet his "people." It was INSTANT. We had NEVER seen anything like that before! He went home that day with Jack & Lori and has just about the best life possible! He even has a few mini horse sisters that were later adopted from us as well! Thank you to our adopters who offer love, kindness and forever homes to our rescued horses. Together, WE are Healing Hearts. ❤️

It was a beautiful end to 2024! With the perfect sunset, our horses, volunteers and staff celebrated a year of incredible rescue efforts, successful rehabilitation of dozens of horses, and an overwhelming amount of support from our community. We reflect on the precious horses that are gone too soon, but are deeply grateful for our time spent with them. Each rescue effort allows Healing Hearts to better our animal welfare community and provide our mission in action. We thank you for being a supporter and part of vision. Together, WE are Healing Hearts. ❤️
