Hi, I’m Ivern 🐾🌿

I’m a 3-year-old large mixed breed weighing in at about 66 pounds of handsome. I’m neutered, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines—basically ready to pack my bags and head home with you!

I can be a little shy and unsure at first because the world still feels pretty big to me sometimes. I’m what humans call “under-socialized,” which just means I need a patient family willing to let me warm up at my own pace. Once I trust you though? I can be a pretty affectionate guy.

A few important things about me:
💚 I LOVE being outside
💚 I enjoy gentle affection
💚 Please don’t pet or scratch under my neck—it makes me uncomfortable
💚 I’d do best with kids 8+ who understand I need space sometimes

I’m looking for kind humans who will help me feel safe, respected, and loved while I continue building confidence. If you’re patient with me, I promise I’ll try my best. 🐶✨

Meet Simba! 🐾🦁

Simba is a 1-year-old, 59-pound Pit Bull mix with a big heart and plenty of potential. He’s neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

This handsome guy can take a little time to warm up to new people, but once he gets to know you, he’s ready to be your loyal companion. Simba would do best in a home with kids 10+ who can respect his space while he settles in.

Simba can be reactive around other dogs, so a mandatory meet and greet is required with any dogs already in the home to ensure everyone is a good fit.

With patience, understanding, and a little time to build trust, Simba is sure to become a devoted best friend. If you're looking for a dog who will make earning his friendship feel extra special, Simba might be your perfect match! 🐶✨

🛏️🐾 BLANKET EMERGENCY! 🐾🛏️

We have a confession to make...

No matter how many blankets we have, the animals always seem to need more. 😅

A puppy has an accident? Blanket.
A kitten needs a cozy nap? Blanket.
A nervous stray needs comfort? Blanket.
A dog decides his blanket would look better shredded into 437 tiny pieces? Also blanket. 😂

Our shelter pets go through blankets faster than we can wash them, and we're currently running low!

If you have gently used or new blankets you'd like to donate, our dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and laundry team would be incredibly grateful. 💛

Every pet in a shelter has a story.

Some were lost.
Some were abandoned.
Some came from homes that could no longer care for them.

But every single one is still hoping for the same thing:

"Hi there,

We adopted a sweet Labrador back in December, and wanted to share her Happy Tails Pup-Date.

Formerly known as Snowdrop, our sweet girl is now named Sage, and she has officially been a spoiled member of our family for the past 6 months! We adopted her in December 2025 after she came to the shelter as a stray, and we truly cannot imagine life without her now.

Sage is absolutely living her best life filled with couch naps, endless toys, cabin adventures, and so much love from her devoted parents and extended family. We learned she has epilepsy but that doesn’t slow this girl down! She loves playing fetch, swimming, going on walks, hogging the bed, and showering everyone with cuddles and affection. She is the sweetest girl and has been such a blessing to our lives.

We’re so excited for all the adventures we’ll take her on this summer and are incredibly grateful to West Valley Humane Society for bringing her into our lives. Thank you for all you do for animals like Sage. She is so deeply loved. ❤️"

Did you know WVHS offers an Adopt From Home Program? 🏡💛

Sometimes families need help rehoming a pet — but bringing them into the shelter isn’t always the best or least stressful option. That’s where Adopt From Home comes in!

Instead of staying in a shelter kennel, eligible pets can remain comfortably in their current home while still receiving support from WVHS during the adoption process 🐶🐱✨

That means pets can:
✔️ Stay in a familiar environment
✔️ Avoid the stress of shelter life
✔️ Receive medical care through WVHS if needed
✔️ Be featured on our website to help find a new family

Our team can assist with things like:
🐾 Spay/neuter
🐾 Vaccinations
🐾 Microchipping
🐾 Adoption promotion and matchmaking

This program helps keep pets comfortable while opening up valuable shelter space for animals with nowhere else to go 💕

If you live in Canyon County and need to responsibly rehome a pet, the Adopt From Home Program may be a great option for you!

🐾📣 ATTENTION VETERINARIANS 📣🐾

West Valley Humane Society is once again searching for a full-time Shelter Veterinarian… because apparently the dogs have not yet learned how to perform their own exams 😭😂

We’re looking for someone who:
🐶 Loves helping animals who truly need a second chance
🐱 Can handle a little chaos and a lot of heart
🩺 Wants to make a direct impact in animal welfare every single day
💛 Understands that shelter pets are some of the most rewarding patients around

Current job perks may include:
✔️ Daily tail wags
✔️ Tiny kitten squeaks
✔️ Staff showing you approximately 700 photos of foster babies
✔️ Being treated like an absolute celebrity by the entire shelter

Meanwhile, our dogs have volunteered to help recruit and would like us to add the following qualifications:
🐾 “Must give good ear scratches”
🐾 “Must tell me I’m handsome”
🐾 “Must throw tennis ball at least once”

In all seriousness, this position would have an incredible impact on thousands of animals in our community each year. If you—or someone you know—might be interested, we’d love to connect!

Today, West Valley Humane Society is fully closed for a staff training and appreciation event 💛

Our team is spending the day focusing on continued education, team building, and taking a small moment to recharge after caring for thousands of animals throughout the year 🐶🐱✨

🚫 No adoptions
🚫 No owner reclaims
🚫 No public intakes/walk-ins today

If you need assistance with a stray animal, please contact your local Animal Control agency directly.
