ππΎ Halloween Pet Safety: No Tricks, Just Treats! πΎπ»
Halloween is full of spooky fun for us, but costumes, candy, decorations, and visitors can create some unexpected hazards for our pets. Keep your furry family members safe this Halloween with a few simple precautions! π§‘
π« Keep candy out of pawβs reach. Chocolate and products containing xylitol can be dangerous for pets. Candy wrappers can also cause stomach or intestinal problems if swallowed.
πͺ Watch the front door. With trick-or-treaters coming and going, even normally calm pets may become frightened or try to slip outside. Consider keeping pets in a quiet, secure room during the busiest part of the evening.
π Be careful with decorations. Candles, electrical cords, glow sticks, fake cobwebs, and small decorations can all pose risks to curious pets.
π¦Έ Choose costumes carefully. If your pet enjoys dressing up, make sure their costume fits comfortably and doesnβt restrict breathing, vision, hearing, or movement. Never force a costume on a pet who is uncomfortable or stressed.
π·οΈ Check identification. Make sure your pet is wearing an ID tag and that their microchip information is currentβjust in case they sneak out during the festivities.
πΎ Know your petβs limits. Not every pet enjoys costumes, doorbells, strangers, or extra excitement. Sometimes the safest Halloween celebration is a cozy, quiet space away from all the action.
