Our one single solitary tomato of the year probably. I typically plant between 60-80 tomatoes and harvest at least 400 lbs of tomatoes but with having our house for sale this summer, I planted two and the birds said wow thank you very much, we will eat everything in sight. To say I miss being overrun by cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, potatoes, corn, all of it, would be quite the understatement.

"Wow, thanks for hand picking this whole basket of flowers just for me" - this bee probably

I strapped on a mask on this morning and went out to pick flowers for about a half hour before winds come in and make the fires and smoke worse. I picked the second flush of lavender, calendula, skullcap, hyssop, and self heal. This little friend was following me and hanging out for the last few minutes haha.
Crossing our fingers and toes that the smoke will subside by Sunday and Monday because those temps are looking NICE and the garden is looking neglected.

I know we all love to hate on wasps because they really can be very territorial jerks that hurt a lot when they sting but sometimes it's great to have a reminder that they are pollinators and the garden does love them.
The wasps are absolutely loving the sea holly this season! I think there are more wasps than usual this year so I am glad to have flowers like sea holly and fennel to keep them content in the garden.

My youngest and I had great time tonight at Little Garden Gate's Grow Your Own Salad class! Excellent information about container gardening and excellent company. Plus you know I love any chance to get my hands dirty.
She has multiple classes coming up across the valley so watch for those! She also offers garden consulting which is something that folks often ask about when buying starts in the spring. If you are looking for someone to help you with companion planting or even designing your whole garden to work better for your needs, she is a wonderful resource!

Picked a basket of my favorite calming herbs today. One of the coolest things about nervines (herbs that calm the body, brain, and often digestion) is how many levels there are. Lemon balm, lavender, and rose are some of the most gentle soothing herbs which means for those of us with sensitive systems, they are often a great fit!
