Sharing from one of our rescue friends. Knowing about parvo is crucial to keeping your puppies and dogs safe.

🚨 PARVO IN WNY 🚨

We want to take a moment to educate our community about canine parvovirus (Parvo). Over the past few weeks, there have been reported Parvo cases from LOCAL SURRENDERS right here in Western New York.

Parvo is highly contagious, EXTREMELY expensive to treat, and often fatal—especially when not caught early. Even with antibodies and supportive care, if Parvo is caught too late, it can be fatal regardless of treatment.

🦠 What you should know:
• Parvo spreads through contact with infected dogs, f***s, or contaminated surfaces
• Puppies and unvaccinated dogs are most at risk
• Treatment often requires hospitalization, IV fluids, medications, and around-the-clock care

💸 The reality of treatment
Parvo treatment can cost thousands of dollars, and sadly, money does not guarantee survival—early prevention is the only reliable protection.

💉 Vaccination saves lives
The best way to protect your dog is by keeping them up to date on vaccines, especially puppies who need a full vaccine series. THIS is why we are so strict with our no paws on the ground rule with dogs that are not fully vaccinated.

We understand cost can be a barrier—but there are affordable options available:
✔️ Low-cost vaccine clinics
✔️ Tractor Supply vaccine clinics
✔️ Petco / Vetco clinics

These clinics provide basic vaccines at a fraction of the cost and can be truly life-saving.

🙏 Please do your part
If you have a puppy or unvaccinated dog:
• Start vaccines as early as recommended (as early as 6 weeks old)
• Avoid dog parks and public spaces until fully vaccinated
• Share this information with friends and family

Prevention is far easier—and far kinder—than treatment. Together, we can help stop Parvo from spreading in our community. 💙🐾

🐾💜Meet our newest ACRA love… Leo 🧡🐾
🐶Leo is an adorable 11-pound Schnauzer–Poodle mix(to the best of our knowledge) born on July 16, 2025, with a gorgeous black and tan coat and a whole lot of personality packed into a tiny body. He’s a bouncy, snuggly little guy who loves toys and cuddling up with his people.
🐾Leo gets along great with cats🐱, a 17-year-old senior dog🐶, and even his 90-pound foster brother🐶, proving he’s a friendly and flexible pup. After coming to us from a commercial breeding facility, Leo is still learning that the world is a safe place. He can be shy around new people and needs someone with both patience and strong leadership to help this little baby learn confidence.
🐶He’s doing well with potty training, learning his leash skills, and sleeps through the night in his crate with no accidents. Every day he becomes braver, sillier, and more affectionate as he comes out of his shell.
🐾Leo is looking for a patient, loving home ready to help him grow into the happy, confident companion he’s meant to be. In return, you’ll get endless snuggles, playful zoomies, and a loyal little best friend.🐾❤️🐾
