S.N.A.R.R Animal Rescue Northeast

S.N.A.R.R Animal Rescue Northeast GIVING HOPE TO THE HOPELESS SNARR Northeast was started in 2011 and is run by Courtney Bellew. We rely solely on donations as a 501c3 non-profit.

We are based out of New York but geography does not stop us when it comes to rescuing! SNARR saves the toughest dogs to place; those with serious medical conditions, deaf and blind dogs, severely emaciated dogs, the animals that nobody else wants; the dogs that would otherwise be euthanized. We also save perfectly healthy animals as well...there are countless lives and innocent beings who need our

help. Courtney Bellew, of Westchester County, NY visited the Manhattan Animal Care & Control Shelter and came across a special dog named Frankie, a deaf Pit Bull. There was just something about him, the look in his eyes, his calm nature…something that made her say: "I need to help THIS dog!” With a full house of her own dogs, Courtney began posting on Facebook for a rescue group to step up and legally take responsibility of Frankie while her and her husband fostered him. After volunteering for a few months, Courtney realized she had truly found her passion and SNARR Northeast was born. Donation can be sent:

We wanted to take a moment to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts !!!

The outpouring of love and support since the fire at the SNARR shelter has been overwhelming in the best possible way. Whether you’ve donated, shared our posts, sent a text to check on us, offered help, or simply kept us in your thoughts, please know how much it means to us.
It is incredibly comforting to be reminded how many people care about SNARR, our mission, and the animals we fight for every day.

Right now, we are taking things one step at a time as we navigate insurance claims, cleanup, repairs, and all of the challenges that come with an unexpected disaster. Today brought a huge piece of good news: with the help of our restoration company, we were able to get a generator connected so the dogs once again have access to running water. It may sound like a small thing, but it was a major milestone and a huge relief.

This has been a stressful and emotional time for all of us. But more than anyone, the dogs are the ones whose lives have been turned upside down. Our staff and volunteers have been working around the clock to keep them safe, comfortable, and as stress-free as possible while we figure out our next steps.

While we are incredibly grateful for everything that has already been done, we are still in need of support. Donations are helping us cover the many unexpected expenses that come with this disaster, and for the future repairs and we are urgently looking for experienced foster homes that can temporarily welcome some of our dogs. Reducing the number of animals in the building will help ease overcrowding and significantly reduce stress on the dogs while we work through the recovery process.

We still have a long road ahead, but we are so grateful that we are not walking it alone. Thank you for standing beside us during one of the hardest moments in SNARR’s history. Your kindness, generosity, and support mean more than we can ever put into words. ❤️

Introducing Nugget!

Nugget’s recently found himself scared and alone at NYC ACC after being surrendered by his original family through no fault of his own. A young, growing pup with his whole life ahead of him didn’t belong in an overcrowded shelter, so we knew we had to help.

Now safe in a loving foster home in Orange County NY, Nugget is showing everyone what an incredible dog he truly is.

This handsome 8.5 month old boy is sweet, friendly, and eager to please. He loves being around people and pups, and greats everyone like an old friend. Nugget is very food motivated, absolutely loves toys, and enjoys being active. He already knows "sit" and "paw" and has so much learning potential because he's a good listener and is eager to please.

Like any young growing dog, Nugget is full of energy and has an incredible zest for life. He loves to play, run, and wrestle with other dogs and is always ready for the next adventure. Nugget truly lives life to the fullest and brings joy and enthusiasm wherever he goes. At around 70 pounds and still growing, this XL puppy can be quite strong and honestly has no idea how big he is.

Because of his size, strength, and playful nature, Nugget would do best with adopters who have large-breed experience and are committed to continuing his training. With the right guidance, structure, and consistency, Nugget will thrive and grow into an amazing companion.

Despite his larger-than-life personality, Nugget has an even bigger heart. He has so much love to give and is ready for a fresh start with a family who will never give up on him again. Could that be you?

🚨🚨 EMERGENCY FOSTERS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY 🚨🚨

This afternoon, we shared the devastating news that a fire spread above our clinic building. By the grace of God and the heroic efforts of our staff, firefighters, and first responders, every dog and every person made it out safely.

But today, the reality is setting in. Just 24 hours ago, 8 of our dogs had a place they called home. They had their kennels, their routines, their safe spaces, and the people they knew caring for them every day.

Many of these dogs have already experienced abandonment, neglect, or heartbreak before finding safety with us. They don't understand why everything suddenly changed. They don't understand why their world was turned upside down overnight.

They just know they're waiting. Waiting for someone to open their home. Waiting for somewhere quiet to rest. Waiting for someone to say, "I've got you." We are desperately searching for foster homes. Even if you can only help for 2-3 weeks while we work through this crisis, you could make all the difference.

You do not need to commit forever. You just need to be willing to help right now.

Some of our dogs need to be the only pet in the home. Some love other dogs. We will work with you to find the right fit. But we cannot do this alone.

This is one of those moments when our rescue community is truly tested. If you have fostered before, we are begging you to consider helping again. If you can't foster, please share this post everywhere. The more people who see it, the more lives we can save.

Please message us immediately if you can foster, even temporarily. We are in Brewster, NY.

Hey there, I'm Barnum!!

Barnum is a 5.5 year old faithful pup who was rescued from Texas. He was born in a small town in the Lone Star State where he spent the first few years of his life wandering the streets and surviving on scraps.

This boy is a survivor who is now ready to live the good life in a warm, loving home! Despite his years of fending for himself as a street dog, Barnum remained a happy-go-lucky pup with a tail that has never stopped wagging. Seriously, Barnum is in a constant state of pure joy wherever he goes!

Barnum walks incredibly well on a leash and is naturally a well behaved dog. Watching Barnum proudly carousing the neighborhood with his head and chest held high is a sight to behold! When he goes for his walks at the Adoption Center Barnum is sure to stop at every person along the way for some butt scratches. He simply can’t resist the opportunity to get some lovin’ from anyone who will give it!

Barnum loves nothing more than putting on his leash and heading out for a stroll around the neighborhood. He is a fantastic swimmer, too!

Whether it's a short walk around the block or a long hike through the woods, Barnum is always up for an adventure. He zips in circles around the yard with his favorite squeaker toy then pauses right in front of you in a play bow waiting for you to play stomp in his direction.. then he’s off again! Zoom, zoom, Go Barnum, Go! Did I mention Barnum is crate and housetrained, too?!

Banum prefers to be the only dog in the home so he can get all your love and cuddles! If you're looking for a loyal and fun-loving companion to join your family, Barnum may be just the dog for you. With his charming personality and love for adventure, he's sure to bring joy and excitement into your life every day.
