Bedford Humane Society Virginia Non-Profit, foster-based rescue in VA. No animals are kept on site. Apply to adopt online. Each has their own story that requires a personalized approach.

Mission and Goal: Our mission and our goal at the Bedford Humane Society, Inc. is the elimination of pet overpopulation and suffering in the town and county of Bedford through education, spay/neuter programs, and pet adoptions as well as the prevention of animal cruelty and neglect through advocacy and humane education. Vision: Our vision is to build a caring community where no companion animal is

born unwanted, where they are all happy, healthy, and well fed. All the animals with BHS are in foster homes so not only are they getting the care they need to get back on their feet, but also the attention and training to become a wonderful family member. While we don’t get the show animals that everyone flocks to, here they get a fresh start with us, a new beginning, and a whole new lease on life.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU CMA's Honda of Lynchburg !!!

Our adoption event hosted by CMA's Honda of Lynchburg led to several successful adoptions and created opportunities for many of our adoptable animals to find their new homes!!

All of the goodies donated will be used to support our foster animals and to feed many animals in our community through our Animeals program.

The money raised will directly support our mission to care for animals in need within our community. It will allow us to purchase food, medicine, and supplies for animals in our case. All this will set these animals up for success in their new life with their forever home!

Meet Butch

This pup is adventurous, very outgoing, friendly and very playful. He is the first one to come up to both people and other dogs. He has already started going on the grass to potty after meals so should be easy to housebreak. Butch has been dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated per his age.

Since he is not yet neutered, Butch is not available for adoption outside of the counties contiguous to Bedford County.

Bobby is a cute, friendly, good natured puppy brimming with personality. Bobby is an intelligent energetic boy, loves attention and is willing to learn. Bobby is still a puppy and does what puppies do. Bobby is the perfect age to grow up alongside his forever family and learn all about the world with them at his side.

Bobby has been wormed, microchipped and vaccinated for his age. Since Bobby is not yet neutered he is not available for adoption outside of counties contiguous to Bedford County. Bobby’s adoption fee is $300, plus a $50 neuter deposit.

Snoopy was born June 1, 2026. He came to Bedford Humane Society in a litter of 6. We were told Retriever/Terrier/Beagle mix. He may be 50 pounds when full grown. Right now he has small features. He is all puppy and will require a lot of training and attention.

Snoopy has been dewormed, microchipped, and vaccinated according to his age. Since he is not yet neutered, Snoopy is not available for adoption outside of the counties contiguous to Bedford County. There is a required $50 deposit that will be returned after proof of neuter. This is a separate contract.

She was originally adopted in January 2026 but her new home has to sadly return her. Hollie would be best not to go to a home where she has access to chickens or rabbits.
