Mine is the bats, Jake’s is the scary face!

Have a super fun and safe night!

Sharing another PRICELESS gem from the cleaning out of my mom’s house childhood relics project. Thought you guys would get a kick out of this one!

To say I got an early start with an interest in cat behavior is a bit of an understatement, 1986!!! This pamphlet was already shaping my path that early. Some terrible and typical advice in here, “to retrain your cat to use the litter box, confine to a room and do not let out until they use the box consistently”🙄🙄🙄 NOT recommended as litter use is instinct and cats require no “training” to use one! However, there is a lot of advice in here that has not changed one bit…since 1986. Behaviorists have been preaching the same thing I, and my other colleagues, do today!

And check out the ads!

This is in my keep pile, a fun memory! Note the mint condition! “Take good care of your things and you’ll have them forever!” I can just hear her voice saying.

Who you callin’ old?

Have you tried Tartarian honeysuckle with your cat yet? Scent enrichment is great for senior cats who may otherwise be a little less active but still need fun and playtime! Søren is likely displeased that I have used him as an example since he is an exemplary senior and looks like he’s five! But he’s the oldest we have at the moment so…

Here he is very much enjoying a honeysuckle-catnip stuffed pillow from THE CAT HOUSE Calgary but of course also sold at my practice, Paws Whiskers and Claws. They are adorable and refillable with whatever scent your cat likes best!

A wee me!
Cats have been a part of my life since I came out of the womb!
More treasures to share as I continued to organize and sort, but thought I’d share this little gem! This is Leo, one of my grandmother’s cats. I also came across a photo of him in a lioncut and I’ll say I’m a far better cat groomer than wherever Nana took her cat’s for hair styling! 😂🐈‍⬛🖤

Safe to watch, nothing was killed, but boy oh boy did we have some near death, err, I mean enriching experiences during last night! All of them! Satu and Ren also POUNCING into shrubs to catch things! Usually we just have to watch Finn and Tank. Thankfully Jake and I had nothing to save.

This enrichment is stressful for the humans, but man did they all sleep well. House was silent last night!

NEW!!!! I haven't had a new foraging toy to offer for a while so the beautiful colors these foraging balls are now available in have me over the moon!

Also NEW, they are now available in a medium 1/2" hole size to accommodate an intermediate sized kibble. Small kibble will not work for this for obvious reasons.

ADDITIONALLY, for a limited time if you put your color preference in the "Notes" section of your order, I will accommodate color choices while this is a new, introductory item! Normally, it is a random surprise as to which colors you receive as they are simply listed as "assorted". So take advantage and get your preferred color palette today! I know I set aside our favorite colors for our cats!

Available for purchase at this link! https://www.fundamentallyfeline.com/products/foraging-ball/

Did you know? Cats were designed to EAT their hydration! They are incredibly inefficient drinkers getting only 1/100th of a teaspoon with each lap of their tongue! This new supplement called catyearsco is clinically proven to increase hydration and is as palatable as Churu! Our cats love it and for those who do not love wet food, it is serving as their wet food meal twice a day!

A glimpse inside my practice, Paws Whiskers & Claws, The Feline Hospital! Since we are all decorated for Halloween, and I often reference this practice in my posts, I thought it was time for me to give you guys a tour! Enjoy! And we ship if you see a must have! If you are local, give us a call for an appointment! We do EVERYTHING in the exam rooms with pet parents present, we do not take them to “the back”. We find the cats are much more calm and cooperative if their human is there for comfort.

I wonder what the meeting is about? 🤔

Here’s a little article that I lended my two cents on. If you want to learn more about catio’s here, you go!

After testing 5 catios over several months, we found the safest and most durable options for giving cats secure outdoor access.
