Many pet owners don’t realize that flea and tick treatments—whether chewables, spot-ons, or other products—can cause adverse reactions. Knowing the signs to look for is crucial so you can report any issues to your vet.

For example, isoxazoline, a common insecticide, is easily absorbed and can cause seizures, behavior changes, and gastrointestinal issues.

These type of reactions can even happen in humans if ingested as a 2-year-old boy (12 kg), the son of a veterinarian, ingested two chewable tablets💊 and developed an unsteady gait🫨 approximately 50 minutes later. By 2 hours after ingestion, he had ataxia, tremor, confusion and hallucinations. He was sedated with midazolam, and 10 hours after ingestion was only minimally ataxic.

According to a recent study published in Vet Record, “The true incidence of neurological adverse effects from isoxazolines remains unclear. The delay between the administration and onset of signs can be long, and the association may be missed. A lack of timing information in the summary of product characteristics could also contribute to missed attribution of adverse effects.”

Over the years, an estimated 100,000 incident reports have been filed regarding the product’s harmful effects on both pets and humans. ⚠️ Alarmingly, 3,000 pets@have reportedly died after using the collar. 💔

Park Pet Supply has the perfect combination of outstanding customer service, a wide selection of top-quality pet supplies, great prices, and a convenient location with lots of parking. We offer a variety of pet supplies for dogs, cats, fish, birds, and small animals. We opened in East Atlanta Village at the end of May 1999 after experiencing first-hand how nutrition and natural remedies could completely change a pet’s life, and we were the first independent pet supply store anywhere in the area at the time.

From day one, the products we have stocked are based on the philosophy that our companion animals deserve the very best in pet nutrition, natural chew bones, alternatives to harsh chemicals, positive training methods, and high-quality merchandise at affordable prices. We strive to give our customers great service and get to know them (and their pets!) on a personal level. We will take the time to talk about pet nutrition and help you choose the right diet for your pet from our extensive selection.

We have a wide range of products, and we can special order certain items by request. We guarantee most of our foods and products, and if you ever have a question or concern, you can contact us. We want to help you give your pets the healthiest and happiest life possible!
