AGA, a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue dedicated to Golden Retrievers, fully foster based & 100% run by volunteers. Based out of Atlanta

We do not reject any golden, no matter their medical or behavioral needs and work tirelessly to find their "furever family". We find warm, loving forever homes for Golden Retrievers to prevent them from being strays or adding to shelter overpopulation. Regardless of medical needs or age, dogs receive vet care, training if required and safe passage to a forever home.

ADOPTED! Dorothy was found as a stray, roaming the streets with Rose. These two had built a friendship out of survival; however, they were happy to find separate loving families. Well, success - she is HOME!!

Dorothy (aka Dory-Maple-Hazel-Tillie-Turtle) is now going through a new naming contest as well as a Halloween costume contest! She and her new 4-legged sister, Phoebe, strutted their stuff dressed as their favorite characters. It's obvious this Halloween and many more holidays to come over the years, will be filled with treats instead of tricks for this sweet girl!

In addition to her costumed partner, Dorothy now has a mom who is home most of the time, a dad who loves her, human brothers and sister, a fenced yard to play in and a bonus; a lake for swimming! We know Dorothy will thrive in her new home surrounded with love and fun!

Thank you to all that helped Dorothy find her way home. (And we didn't even have to click our heels together!)

ADOPTED! Two-year-old Ranger’s original family loved him dearly, but with a two-year-old at home and another baby on the way, they realized they could no longer give this energetic Golden the time and attention he needed & deserved. Wanting the very best for him, they reached out to AGA to help Ranger find a home where he could truly thrive.

It didn’t take long for Ranger’s foster family to discover that he was a bundle of energy with an enormous zest for life! He loved playing with his foster pup brother, and it quickly became clear that Ranger would be happiest in a home with another dog for companionship and a family whose active lifestyle could keep up with his enthusiasm.

Ranger met a few potential families along the way, but sometimes finding the perfect home takes a little time and patience. Then Ranger met his forever family, and everything fell into place.

Today, Ranger is living his very best life with a work-from-home mom, dad, two human brothers, and two canine brothers, which means there is almost always someone around to give him attention or join in the fun. He loves walks in the park, but nothing makes him happier than finding someone willing to throw a ball. According to Mom, Ranger is just a little obsessed with fetch!

And when we say Ranger has energy, we mean it. One day, he logged an incredible 49,000 steps on his Fi Mini and still had energy to spare! Fortunately, he has found a family that embraces his enthusiasm for life. He adores all his brothers, both human and canine, and even gets to go to work with his oldest brother, where he has become a favorite with everyone he meets.

Most importantly, Ranger is exactly where he was meant to be: surrounded by people and pups who love his joyful spirit and are happy to keep up with him. And Mom’s verdict on her energetic Golden boy? - “He’s the best boy!” Welcome to forever, sweet Ranger ❤

ADOPTED! Sweet Chloe has been adopted and is living her best life. She came to AGA when her previous owner was no longer able to care for her. She was suffering from Separation Anxiety and we knew we needed someone who could be with her and help her become more confident.

She found her forever home and is living her best life. She's gone on many adventures with her new mom, including the nail salon! She's also been to Florida as well as the north Georgia mountains where she prefers shopping and restaurants to hiking. No muddy paws for her. She's a total girly girl!

She loves going to restaurants and shops in Atlanta and seems to be the social chairman of her mom's building. She likes to stop at the concierge desk to check in and say hello. She is also well known for her big smile and her soft coat and people often ask if she is a mix with something glamorous like an afghan or borzoi bc she is so tall and has such a long face. Oh and she can easily fit two tennis balls at a time in her mouth :) Congratulations Chloe!

ADOPTED! Rose came to AGA after being found as a stray alongside her friend Dorothy. While they loved one another, they were not bonded to each other. Despite their uncertain beginnings, this beautiful girl quickly showed everyone what a special pup she is! Rose has such a gentle nature, calm personality, and love for being close to her people; she has a way of making everyone around her fall in love! She is happiest right by her people's side, soaking up all the love and attention she can get!

Rose’s new family met her at last month’s Meet & Greet, and it didn’t take long for them to realize she was something special. Her new family has a long history of opening their hearts and homes to animals in need, whether through fostering, adoption, or lovingly caring for senior pups. They were hoping to welcome a sweet, laid-back velcro dog into their home, and with Rose, they got everything they were looking for and more!

Rose now has an amazing new mom and dad, two kids who already adore her, and three furry siblings - Bailey, a fellow rescue and Lab mix, and two kitties. With plenty of companionship, endless love, and a lake house for family adventures, it’s safe to say our sweet Rose hit the absolute jackpot!

For a girl who loves nothing more than being close to her people, we couldn’t imagine a better beginning to her next chapter. Rose now has a whole family to love on, and we know she’ll be soaking up every second of it!💗

ADOPTED! Sadie came to AGA after being found as a stray, and right away she captured the hearts of everyone she met! With her gentle personality, affectionate nature, and love for being close to her people, Sadie was ready to find a family to call her own.

Sadie’s new family had recently said goodbye to their beloved golden retriever and knew they had room in their hearts and home to love another. As fate would have it, Sadie (now Lady) was just the girl they needed!

She now has an amazing new mom and dad, along with two furry siblings - Gus, a 5-year-old golden, and a 15-year-old West Highland White Terrier. Lady’s new life will be filled with endless snuggles, endless stuffies, and fun adventures at the family’s lake house!

Lady has already met her new family’s grandchildren and done wonderfully with them. She’s especially attached to her new mom and is settling into her new life surrounded by so much love.

It’s safe to say Lady has found exactly where she belongs, and her family couldn’t be any happier to have her! We can’t wait to see all the wonderful memories they’ll make together. Happy tails, Miss Lady! 🐾💕

ADOPTED! Zoe Pup is the last of the K-Pop litter to be adopted. The eight littermates, plus their mom, dad, and older sister, golden pup, came to AGA when they were all surrendered to the Fulton County Animal Shelter. We welcomed all 11 dogs with open arms.

Zoe Pup, now named Hunny, has been adopted by an AMAZING family. Hunny’s parents work from home, and she has a nice, fenced yard to play in. PLUS, she will get to see and play with her littermate, Bunny (Romance Pup)! The littermates live close and will see each other on a regular basis since they were adopted by siblings (how fitting!!). Welcome home, Hunny!

ADOPTED! When 5-year-old Fin's family could no longer afford his care, they returned him to the breeder from whom they had originally purchased him as an 8-week-old puppy. Knowing Fin deserved a chance at a loving forever home, the breeder reached out to AGA for help.

When Fin entered the AGA program, it was clear that he had spent most of his life outdoors. Although he craved human attention, he was extremely timid and unsure of the world around him. Fin didn't know basic commands, was afraid of crates, nervous in the car, and had never really learned how to walk on a leash. His foster parents could see the sweet dog hidden beneath his fears. He simply needed patience, love, and someone to show him what life inside a caring home could be.

Before long, Fin began to blossom. He discovered the comfort of snuggling in bed with his foster parents, greeted the sight of a leash with an enthusiastic wagging tail, and gradually gained the confidence to meet new friends during neighborhood walks. As his confidence grew, so did his personality, and it wasn't long before he was ready to begin the search for his forever family.

Fin's new mom and dad are retired and had lost their beloved Golden Retriever last Christmas. While they deeply missed having a golden in their lives, they knew it would take a very special dog to fill the void left by their cherished companion. The moment they learned about Fin, their hearts filled with hope. They traveled from out of state to meet this sweet boy and quickly realized they had found the dog they had been waiting for.

After two visits, the decision was easy. Fin officially became part of their family and began his new life in a home complete with a large fenced yard, a swimming pool, and, most importantly, endless love and attention from his devoted mom and dad.

After waiting five years to discover the joys of being a cherished family member, Fin has finally found exactly where he belongs. Live your best life, Fin! 🐾❤️
