Adopt a Golden Atlanta

Adopt a Golden Atlanta AGA, a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue dedicated to Golden Retrievers, fully foster based & 100% run by volunteers. Based out of Atlanta

We do not reject any golden, no matter their medical or behavioral needs and work tirelessly to find their "furever family". We find warm, loving forever homes for Golden Retrievers to prevent them from being strays or adding to shelter overpopulation. Regardless of medical needs or age, dogs receive vet care, training if required and safe passage to a forever home.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at the Zoom Room Sandy Springs | Dog Training, Agility & Play adoption event on June 6th!

We were proud to introduce a special initiative created by Eagle Scout candidate Carys in partnership with Adopt a Golden. To help celebrate future adoptions, complimentary “Welcome Home” gift bags will be available for adopting families while supplies last.

Each bag is filled with thoughtfully selected items to help new families and their furry companions start their journey together, including handmade toys, treats, waste bags, a custom collar, and more.

We are grateful to Carys for her dedication to supporting rescue dogs and the families who open their hearts and homes to them 💛

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲 2026: 𝗔 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲, 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 & 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 💛 Meet Steele Pup, Scout, and Blazer Pup - a rescue story that reminds us exactly why we do this work.

These three young dogs were abandoned overnight on a rural farm in South GA —starving, covered in fleas and ticks, and bearing the scars of a difficult past. The property manager spotted them on the cameras and immediately tried to find local help, but no one stepped up, so he did. He built them a makeshift pen and provided food, water, and safe shelter while he continued to search for help.

When an AGA volunteer saw his plea on Facebook, our team sprang into action. Volunteers made a nine-hour round trip to bring these deserving dogs to safety, where they finally received the medical care, baths, and nourishment they desperately needed.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙩 𝘼𝙂𝘼 𝙞𝙨 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚. They are only 8 months to 1 year old, and their old scars and fresh wounds told a story of hardship and neglect. Their bodies bore the evidence of lives spent fighting simply to survive — to find food, to find shelter, to make it through another day.

What makes their story so remarkable is their resilience. Despite everything they've endured, they still choose to trust. They are already greeting us with wagging tails, kisses, and requests for belly rubs. Every small step forward is a victory.

And that is exactly what 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲 is all about. Rescue is not simply saving a dog from a difficult situation. It is restoring hope where hope has been lost. It is witnessing the incredible resilience of dogs like these three when they have every reason to be afraid, yet still choose trust. Dogs who remind us that love can heal even the deepest wounds.

Today, they are safe. Their future is still being written, and because of supporters like you, it's filled with hope. 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞-𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.

ADOPTED! “So Happy” was the only female in the Derby litter that came into AGA in April. Her mom works from home, and she has a fenced yard to play in with big sister “Britt,” who is also an AGA dog. These sisters will enjoy walks, backyard activities, training, and being so spoiled. These pups are so sweet together. Welcome home, Haps 💛

ADOPTED! Cooper, an eight-year-old, big, playful and loyal boy, was surrendered by his loving owner due to health issues and needing to move. This was such a difficult surrender. She raised Cooper from a puppy, and they had such a wonderful bond. Our intake team promised to find a loving family that would cherish this sweet boy - and that’s exactly what AGA did.

His new family are previous adopters, have huge hearts for rescue and wanted to make Cooper part of their family. Cooper’s dad is retired so he will seldom be alone. He will go on lots of walks, play in the yard or just lay out there. He may even want to swim in the pool. Cooper’s new mom and dad love him dearly already.

Thank you to his foster and the team of volunteers who helped Cooper through this transition 💛

ADOPTED! Ella, a sweet 5-year-old, described as "the perfect girl," has found her forever home! She came to AGA when her family had a lifestyle change, and they knew she deserved a better life. Her forever family, who are previous AGA adopters, knew it was time to add a second AGA golden to their family.

Their golden Murphy loves playing with other dogs and always seemed a little disappointed when playtime came to an end, so they began their search for a companion for him. When they saw Ella's photo and read her description, they immediately felt she might be the perfect fit - turns out they were right!

Ella and Murphy have quickly become two peas in a pod. The whole family loves watching the two of them sit side-by-side at the windows, keeping an eye on squirrels, neighbors, and all the neighborhood excitement. Their tails even wag in unison on walks! Whether they're playing together indoors or exploring outside, they're happiest when they're together.

Her forever family said one of the sweetest surprises has been watching Ella's playful side emerge. They were originally told she was a more reserved girl who didn't play much, but Murphy's youthful energy and enthusiasm have quickly helped bring her out of her shell. We could not be happier for sweet Ella, Murphy, and the entire family. Thank you for giving Ella the loving forever home that she so deserves!

ADOPTED! AGA was happy to welcome the Kentucky Derby litter when a breeder reached out for help finding loving homes for the puppies. Honcho Pup, now Cooper, has joined his forever family and will enjoy walks, playing in the fenced yard and the companionship of his parents being home most of the day. His new mom and dad are dog savvy and love training dogs. Welcome home, Cooper!

ADOPTED! With two young children, Sadie’s original family realized they did not have the time required to give Sadie the attention she deserves. They turned to AGA to find a new home for this sweet eight-year-old girl. All Sadie wanted was a family to love. Her foster mom said she would loyally follow her around the house, and she was a perfect house guest.

Sadie’s new mom and dad had recently experienced a heartbreaking loss of one of their dogs and wanted to find a new companion for their three-year-old Bordeaux Mastif. A meeting was held and not only did Sadie get along perfectly with the very large Mastif and the resident cat, but her new mom and dad fell in love with Sadie’s sweet and gentle personality.

It had taken a little while to find the right home for Sadie, but it was worth the wait. Now Sadie lives with a retired mom and dad who have plenty of time to give her all the love and attention she deserves, and her mom tells us that Sadie loves her “little” brother and kitty cat sister. They are too cute together. We couldn’t be happier for Sadie and her new family. Live your best life, Sadie!

ADOPTED! Ziggy, a 6-year-old golden who certainly doesn’t act — or look — his age, was surrendered to an animal shelter after his owner was no longer able to care for him. AGA to the rescue!

Ziggy is a pretty easy going fellow. There isn’t much this guy doesn’t love.
Toys? Yes, please. People? Absolutely. Other dogs? Bonus. Cats? Doable. Car rides, walks, playtime? Wait… did someone say playtime? All in! Snuggles? Much needed and gladly accepted.

When his new owner saw him for the first time, she knew he was the missing piece to complete her family. Now Ziggy gets all the things he loves most: toys, people, snuggles, a few littles to play with when the grandkids visit, and not one but two new siblings, Georgie and Emma.

Boy, did Ziggy hit the jackpot with this forever home. Welcome to your forever home!
