Keeping your dog on a regular grooming schedule is more than just appearance—it’s health and safety.

Monthly nail appointments are essential to keep your dog comfortable and properly balanced. Walking on concrete does not naturally wear nails down as much as many people assume. In most cases, nails still continue to grow, which can lead to discomfort, posture issues, and even joint strain over time.

During the summer months especially, extra care is needed. Hot concrete and asphalt can reach temperatures that may burn sensitive paw pads within minutes please keep them off of it. Keeping nails properly trimmed also helps your dog walk more naturally, grass is the best surface when they have to go outside on hot days

Grooming appointments also include nail trimming as part of the full care routine.

De-shedding and regular grooming are just as important. They help your dog regulate body temperature more effectively, especially in warmer weather. Removing excess undercoat improves airflow through the coat, which supports heat regulation and helps prevent overheating.

Beyond comfort, grooming also promotes healthier skin and coat condition by reducing matting, trapped debris, and skin irritation.

A consistent grooming routine isn’t just about looking good—it’s about keeping your dog safe, comfortable, and healthy year-round.

Meet Maasai & Siena — two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers you don’t see every day around here 🦊✨

Siena came in a little unsure… more ā€œI’ll observe this situation from a safe distanceā€ than ā€œsign me up.ā€
Maasai? Her confident little sidekick.

Siena was not emotionally prepared for grooming today šŸ˜„
But with patience, a calm pace, and a lot of understanding dogs first… she slowly relaxed, started trusting the process, and settled in beautifully šŸ’—

We did a mini groom + deshed, and honestly… the amount of undercoat that came out was wild. But the best part wasn’t that—it was watching both dogs leave feeling lighter, cleaner, and so much more comfortable āœ‚ļøāœØ

Their coats went from dull āž soft, shiny, and healthy again.

Their owner said it best:
Professional āœ‚ļø, Patient & caring šŸ’—, Clean & tidy 🧼, Responsive ā˜Žļø

ā€œI’m not sure I can express how amazed I was with the service… My dogs are not used to grooming, and Nicole was caring, kind, and treated them like her own. They looked AMAZING and were so happy!ā€

This is exactly why I do what I do.

It’s a contriveral topic. The impact is much greater Regarding health development, it is important to understand why some dogs develop skin issues. Conditions such as diabetes, thyroid problems, and cancer may increase the risk of health complications. I recommend sharing this information to help others better understand how their pets' bodies evolve and to explore alternative options for preventing unnecessary breeding.
