๐ Today was hard.
Today, Dakota finally came back into our rescueโs care after being removed from a heartbreaking situation.
When I first saw him at Cobb County Animal Control, my heart shattered. His nails were severely overgrown, he was covered in urine and f***s, and he was painfully thin. No dog should ever have to live that way.
Dakota is only 1 year old. He was pulled from Bartow County on 10/3/2025 with the promise of a better life, but thatโs not the reality he received.
As soon as concerns about his welfare were verified, we took immediate action. Unfortunately, the foster refused to surrender him, so we had to work through the proper legal channels and with Animal Control to get him to safety. After several days being held as part of the investigation, Dakota is finally back with us. โค๏ธ
The amazing part? Despite everything heโs endured, Dakota is still incredibly sweet, trusting, and full of love. Heโs dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and deserves nothing but the best.
This is also a reminder of why regular check-ins are so important, even in foster situations. While the vast majority of our fosters are amazing and lifesaving, circumstances can change, and our dogs depend on us to make sure theyโre always safe.
