Chips and Queso, anyone 🧀🐱?

Earlier this summer, we met a pair of orphaned kittens who needed special attention to overcome their fears. At the end of August, both were adopted into wonderful homes. And we've already got an update on Andrew:

"A few days ago, I adopted Andrew (who is now Chips) and began the process to introduce him to my resident cat Queso! Andrew was described as very shy and in need of a very confident resident cat to be home with, and I want you guys to know he’s totally a different guy!

Chips has really come out of his shell and has even intentionally cuddled with me! He’s used the Robo litter box without any issues, and is behaving like a typical orange kitten!"

In the warmer months, kittens may be aplenty but our love and dedication to seeing each one thrive stays the same 💙

No Labor Day plans? Keep a kitty company instead! 🐱🐾

We have a few cats and kittens who could greatly benefit from some companionship through Labor Day weekend, including this adorable gal Moscow.

By fostering, you're directly participating in the lifesaving care we provide for all animals. And because we appreciate your willingness to lend a hand, fostering through AWLA is completely free! We provide all the necessities to take care of one of our animals, including first-time foster support, vet care, and guidance.

Our clinics provide access to vaccines that protect pets from illness and microchips that make reuniting pets and their people possible 🐾

This past Saturday, 113 pets from over 80 Arlington families received care at our Low-Cost Vaccine and Microchip Clinic. We provided nearly 200 rabies and distemper vaccinations to keep pets healthy. Thanks to the generous support of Petco Love, all of the distemper vaccines were provided for free 💜

Summer is AWLA's busiest season. Right now, we're seeing more stray animals, more owned animals being surrendered, and more animals in need of care than any other time this year — all while adoptions and donations are slowing down during the summer months.

We never turn away an animal from Arlington County or City of Falls Church. But that means we need your help to keep up.
