Chippi and Pippi, our delightful bonded pair of guinea pigs, recently took in some fine guinea pig portraiture — and we’d say they were impressed.

They’re currently living in foster care — but ready to meet their forever family!

A potentially rabid fox is at large in Arlington. One fox has already tested positive for rabies in the Highland Park – Overlee Knolls neighborhood. If you, your child, or your pet may have come into contact with a fox in this area, please call Animal Control at 703-931-9241 immediately.

We’ve had a few new arrivals this week at AWLA who are currently in our care:

🔹 A0058415985 – Black & white male dog, found 5/1 near Columbia Pike (Falls Church Aldi area)
💡 Wearing a gold chain with a bow pendant
🪪 Microchipped to “Ferdinand” — we’re working to contact his listed owner
🔹 A0058404744 – Tan male dog (young adult mix), found 4/30 near Barcroft Park / S. Thomas St
🔹 A0058409804 – Green & yellow parakeet, found 4/30 at 1501 N Hartford St

These pets are also still in our care and waiting to be reunited with their families:

🐱 A0051476854 – Brown male tabby cat, found near 1021 Arlington Blvd
🐶 A0058373972 – Male Yorkie, brown/black, found on 8th St S
🐶 A0058373976 – Female Yorkie, brown/black, microchipped, found on 8th St S

🚨 RABIES ALERT in Arlington's Highland Park neighborhood 🚨

On April 25, an injured fox removed from the 6000 block of 22nd Street North tested POSITIVE for rabies.

⚠️ Rabies is dangerous and potentially fatal if not treated quickly. If you, your child, or your pet may have come into contact with a fox in this area, please call Arlington County Animal Control at 703-931-9241 right away.

✅ What you can do:
• Keep pets up to date on rabies & distemper vaccines
• Keep dogs on leash & cats indoors
• Don’t approach or feed wildlife
• Feed pets inside
• Remove outdoor food sources & trash

If you see a sick or aggressive wild animal—or find a dead fox, raccoon, or other rabies vector animal—do not touch it. Call Animal Control immediately: 703-931-9241

💜 Found & Reunited: Meet Fred.
Fred’s story is a reminder of the incredible things that can happen when a community comes together for animals in need.

A Good Samaritan spotted Fred wandering and shared a post online. Another community member quickly took action, locating Fred and working with Animal Control to get him safely listed as a found pet. 🐾

Fred didn’t have a collar or microchip, but thanks to teamwork, flyers, and a whole lot of compassion, he was reunited with his family in less than 24 hours. 💫

A huge thank you to Fred’s finder, who even offered to foster him while the search was underway — and to every neighbor who helped spread the word. 🐱💜

It truly takes a village.

🎧 Sound on: Toby’s snore therapy begins now.

🎉 Happy National Pet Month! Let’s celebrate with a foster glow-up — meet Toby! 🐾

Toby is a goofy, grass-loving gentleman who’s thriving in foster care while he waits for his perfect match. 💙

Lately, he’s discovered a deep passion for tennis balls (mostly tearing them apart 😅), and he’s perfected the “paw” command — so much so, he offers it even when you’re not asking. He also loves rolling in the grass, then peacefully watching the world go by. 🌿

His foster shares:

“Toby’s personality shows more and more each week. He’s good at looking back at us when we go down the stairs and listens when we say ‘back back back’ before we open doors.”

Polite, playful, and just the right amount of quirky — let’s help this good boy find the forever home he deserves. 🐕

💛 We’re all in this together.
Our friends at Loudoun County Animal Services recently featured one of our longtime pups, Teddy — and today, we’re honored to return the love.

Meet Kannon — 35 lbs of sass, snuggles, and serious toy hoarding energy. He’s 8 years young and has been waiting far too long for someone to see just how special he is.

✨ His adoption fee is fully sponsored, and he’s available now at LCAS.

Kannon takes his time to warm up, but once he’s in your circle? You’ll never watch TV alone again. He’s got opinions, a love of belly rubs, and a gift for making you laugh. This guy has lived with other dogs before and could be a great match for the right pup with a proper intro.

Let’s help this sweet soul find the home he deserves.
