is here! 🌿 Today, we promote relaxation and stress relief, encouraging everyone to focus on their well-being and discover healthy ways to unwind. At Fur-Get Me Not, we create opportunities for relaxation at our daycare and during enrichment school. Additionally, we offer a "Relax" training workshop that equips dog parents with techniques they can practice at home or while traveling with their dog. 🐾✨

Happy ! Did you know that left-handed individuals have a unique brain organization that often grants them special skills? It's commonly believed that lefties tend to be more creative and excel in artistic fields like art or music. 🤔
Here are some interesting facts:
🫲 Approximately 10-12% of the global population is left-handed.
🫲 Most left-handed people are born in July and August.
🫲 Scissors are primarily designed for right-hand use.
🫲 Certain animals, such as kangaroos and parrots, show a preference for using their left limbs.
So, we decided to put the dogs to the test—here's what we discovered...⁉️🧐 enjoy!

💫🌟Our upcoming Cognitive Camp sessions are on Monday, 8/25 and Friday, 8/29! 👉 Have you registered your dog yet?
💥 What is enrichment camp and how does it differ from a typical day at daycare? ⁉️ Fur-Get Me Not camps bring your dog together for a 30-minute group activity with a carefully curated selection of other dogs. Each day boasts a distinct theme, among these options:
✅ Agility Camp - This includes jumps, various surfaces, wobble boards, and hoops.
✅ Cognitive Camp - Engages dogs with food puzzles, complex tasks, and problem-solving challenges.
✅ Instinctive Camp - Here, dogs experience activities they may not encounter at home, such as digging, sniffing, foraging, shredding, chewing, and licking.
✅ Play Camp - Different from daycare playgroups, this involves special toys and exciting games like Gotcha! and hide & seek.
✅ Positive Association Camp - Dogs are introduced to new stimuli while learning calm behaviors, mat work, and body handling.
✅ Relaxation Camp - Focuses on instilling calm behaviors through body handling, mat work, soothing music, massage, and puzzles.
Here's your midweek pick-me-up... a late shoutout to all our besties! 🐾💖 Who's your fur-end's ride or die? 🐶✨

💫Say hello to our August Pet of the Month: Winston! 😎🐾 This 9-year-old beagle is truly living his best life, and his non-negotiables ensure that every choice he makes—including us—is the right one! Since he joined us in 2024 for reactivity dog training, he's thrived through daycare, enrichment activities, nature walks, and our on-demand training service. 🐶✨
☀️ Words to live by: As a stubborn beagle, Winston lives by the motto: “Never say never.” In his world, every decision he makes is the right one. No negotiation necessary.
☀️ Favorite thing about daycare team, office, or dog trainers? Winston lights up when he sees Juliet, Brianne, and Diane. Based on the sweet notes we get after daycare, it’s clear he’s also built strong bonds with several of the amazing folks who care for him at daycare. They just get him. He started off as a middle-aged rescue who viewed people as "stranger danger". The friends he has made at Fur-Get Me Not have helped restore his trust and confidence.
☀️Favorite dog friend? Winston has a particular fondness for the lady dogs, especially during training…when he really should be focusing. Outside of Fur-Get Me Not, his favorite friend is Ava, a gentle Newfoundland he hangs with at his Sunday SniffSpot.
☀️ Quirk? Winston sees himself as a large, imposing, mission-driven guardian and hunter, so it’s hysterical how obsessed he is with trying to access the stash of plush toys locked up in the training building. Also, his flirt game with the ladies? Strong.
☀️ If your dog could talk, what would he say? “You guys smell very trustworthy. Thanks for letting me be me… unless I’m being extra, in which case, thanks for gently redirecting my drama, and showing me better choices.”
☀️ Why did you choose our service? We were referred by our behavioral wellness specialist in Fairfax, and it’s been the perfect fit. Winston’s friends at Fur-Get Me Not have helped him build confidence through classes, enrichment activities, and lots of patient support.
☀️ Anything else you would like to share? Winston is a sensitive, soulful, slightly dramatic gentleman who’s learning to be brave again. Thanks for being such a big part of his journey!

Our story began in December 2000 when founder Tammy Rosen launched Fur-Get Me Not as a pet sitting business operating out of her home in Arlington, VA. Initially she was the single employee and operator but quickly realized the growing demand for in-home dog walking and pet sitting services. Within a few short months she hired her first employee and was able to expand in-home pet care services in Arlington and soon after the broader Northern Virginia region.
In late 2003, Fur-Get Me Not relocated it's office to Shirlington and opened a 3,000 square foot dog daycare facility. By doing so, the company was able to further expand our pet care services by offering dog daycare, dog boarding, and dog training. By 2006, Fur-Get Me Not expanded in-home pet care services to the Washington, DC area.
In 2010, Fur-Get Me Not became a full-family affair when Tammy's husband joined the company. At the same time, we expanded our business in Arlington, by opening a Dog Training School located next door to our dog daycare, and in DC, by opening a DIY Dog Wash.
Today Fur-Get Me Not employs 130 pet care professionals and provides services to over 8,000 clients in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC area. Fur-Get Me Not has been recognized by numerous publications, organizations, and our customers for the high quality of services and the friendly, professional staff that make it all happen.
Philosophy
We believe in fair, open, and honest business practices. We believe when someone else is caring for your pet, they should provide the same quality of care as if you were doing it yourself. We work hard to build long-lasting relationships with you and your pets. Our team wants to really get to know your pet so we can partner with you to help them thrive. Our services are broad yet flexible, convenient, and can be combined in different ways to meet your specific pet care needs.
Whether you work or travel, have a new puppy, a high-energy dog or a playful kitten, experiencing behavior challenges with your dog or have a shy cat, we do it all. We can come to your home for pet sitting, dog walking, or dog training. Or you can bring your dog to us for dog daycare, dog boarding, dog training or DIY dog wash.
