Happy New Year! 🎉🥳 Meet our first pet of the month for 2026 ... Fern is a lovely female beagle/shepherd mix who is turning 5 years old this February! She has been enjoying our daycare, boarding, and training services since 2022.
Her motto? "Snuggle hard, chase squirrels harder." Fern adores snuggling with her favorite humans, but once she's outside, chasing squirrels becomes her main focus! 🐾
What does she love most about our team? Fern appreciates how attentive and patient they are with her. She loves soaking up their affection but also values when they recognize her need for space. Over the years, they have truly come to understand her, supporting her during shy moments and celebrating her growing confidence. Their care shines through, especially with the special nicknames they've given her. With them, she feels truly known and safe.
Who is her favorite dog friend? Fern adores all of her daycare pals and enjoys mirroring their play styles. However, she particularly loves taking charge of her best buddy, Cassius, an Australian Shepherd she met at the dog park. 🐶
Does she have any unique quirks? Absolutely! One of Fern’s signature moves is sleeping upside down with her paws in the air and lips flopped over, showcasing her most relaxed (and silliest) face! 😄
If Fern could talk, what would she say: “Thank you for being so patient with me and allowing me to warm up at my own pace. I will always ensure everyone’s safety—especially when a new friend joins the team or if I notice something suspicious outside that needs attention. I appreciate all the love, understanding, and respect you give me. This place feels like home.”
Why did you choose our service? We selected this daycare because the team is friendly, patient, and genuinely attentive to Fern’s needs. They understand her personality, respect her boundaries, and celebrate her quirks, making it a second home where she feels cherished.
Anything else? Fern is an incredibly intelligent, goofy, cuddly, and sensitive dog who thrives on affection and isn’t shy about barking at anything she perceives as a potential threat. 🌟

Meet our December Pet of the Month: Violet. A energetic 5-year-old female Boston Terrier who joined the Fur-Get Me Not family in 2020! Since then, she has enjoyed all the services including: daycare, boarding, dog walking, and training.
Her motto? "Ball is life!" We have to be careful not to say the word in our house! Now we think she can spell, so we use the term "sphere" to refer to it...otherwise, we'd be outside playing fetch with her 24/7. When she’s not chasing her beloved ball, you’ll find her laying in the sun.
What do we love most about the Fur-Get Me Not team? Their patience! Violet has endless energy, often takes on the role of the fun police, and can be obnoxious. The daycare staff and dog walkers are always kind and understanding when Violet isn't on her best behavior. We truly don’t know what we’d do without them!
Favorite dog friend? Violet doesn't have just one favorite canine companion; she enjoys playing with many dogs in her group. However, she absolutely adores her human friends who shower her with affection and pets. 🐾💕
One of Violet's quirks? She makes the funniest dolphin-like sounds to get our attention! It usually means either "Please throw the ball!" or "Give me treats!"
If Violet could speak, she'd say: "I'm so nervous when Mom or Dad drops me off at daycare because I feel like they're never coming back to get me. But once I’m there, all the love from my human friends helps me feel calm and happy!"
Why did we choose Fur-Get Me Not? Our vet at Clarendon Animal Care recommended Fur-Get Me Not during one of our first visits, emphasizing the importance of puppy socialization. Since Violet started daycare at 6 months old, it has been wonderful for both her and us. It's a game-changer to have a daycare/dog walking service that genuinely cares, understands our dog's personality, and helps us make the best choices for her care and social interactions.

Our story began in December 2000 when founder Tammy Rosen launched Fur-Get Me Not as a pet sitting business operating out of her home in Arlington, VA. Initially she was the single employee and operator but quickly realized the growing demand for in-home dog walking and pet sitting services. Within a few short months she hired her first employee and was able to expand in-home pet care services in Arlington and soon after the broader Northern Virginia region.
In late 2003, Fur-Get Me Not relocated it's office to Shirlington and opened a 3,000 square foot dog daycare facility. By doing so, the company was able to further expand our pet care services by offering dog daycare, dog boarding, and dog training. By 2006, Fur-Get Me Not expanded in-home pet care services to the Washington, DC area.
In 2010, Fur-Get Me Not became a full-family affair when Tammy's husband joined the company. At the same time, we expanded our business in Arlington, by opening a Dog Training School located next door to our dog daycare, and in DC, by opening a DIY Dog Wash.
Today Fur-Get Me Not employs 130 pet care professionals and provides services to over 8,000 clients in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC area. Fur-Get Me Not has been recognized by numerous publications, organizations, and our customers for the high quality of services and the friendly, professional staff that make it all happen.
