Kicking off July with these firecrackers 🎆 Meet Ruby & Piper. This duo is our July pet of the month 🤩🐾

💥 Ruby is a female hound mix, she just turned 7 years old! Piper is a female pit/boxer mix and she is 6 years old. They have been with Fur-Get Me Not since 2020 and utilize our at home dog walking, dog daycare & boarding, and dog training services.

💥 Words to live by: "Why did you stop petting me?" Ruby: “Is it time for my nap yet?"

💥 Favorite thing about any of our dog walkers, daycare team or office team? Ruby loves daycare because it is the only place where humans don’t terrify her! She spends more time with the daycare attendants than the other dogs and loves getting pets from them. Piper loves her walks with Dylan and waits for him by the apartment door every morning, even when she doesn’t have a walk scheduled.

💥 Favorite dog friend? Ruby: Brownie. Piper: Her sister Ruby.

💥 Quirk? When we get home after being out all day, Piper barks until we join her on the couch, and then she growls until we pet her. We call those her “angry pets.” Ruby is known to howl at people she doesn’t know. We live in a tenth-floor apartment next to some office buildings, which are rarely occupied, but when Ruby sees someone, she howls and howls. Piper, unsure of what is going on, will "help out” by running around the apartment and barking in all directions.

💥 If your dogs could talk, what would they say? "Piper loves her long walks with Dylan, but she wishes he would let her eat bird p**p. Ruby is so happy to have FGMN, where she gets to play with other dogs and lounge with humans that she trusts."

💥 Why did you choose our service? We were impressed by the great reviews and wanted to support a local business—we have never been disappointed! We know the folks at FGMN take great care of our babies.

🩸 Is your dog a blood donor yet? Each month, the North American Veterinary Blood Bank visits us to collect donations! Bring your pup to daycare for the day, and we’ll take care of the vet visit for the draw. 🐶❤️

Next donation date is Thursday, 6/26. To qualify:
🐾 1-7 years old
🐾 Over 55 lbs
🐾 Friendly temperament & up-to-date vaccines
🐾 On regular flea/tick/HW prevention
🐾 Not on medication for chronic illness

We are closed for Juneteenth, Thursday, 6/19 - just a few friendly reminders below:

🐾 Office is closed Thursday, 6/19
🐾 Boarding operates on a holiday schedule. Pick-ups (by appointment only) between 11am-2pm or 7pm-8pm
🐾 Daycare is closed, however we will accept half day (by reservation only) between 10am-3pm
🐾 No training classes
🐾 No midday dog walks, please contact us to schedule if you need one

🌟Our next Positive Associations camp is Tuesday, June 24! Have you signed your dog up yet?

💥 What exactly is enrichment camp, and how does it compare to a regular day at daycare? ⁉️ Our camps bring your dog together for a 30-minute group activity with a carefully selected group of other dogs. Each day features a unique theme, including:

**Agility Camp**: This includes jumps, various surfaces, wobble boards, and hoops.

**Cognitive Camp**: Engages dogs with food puzzles, complex tasks, and problem-solving challenges.

**Instinctive Camp**: Here, dogs experience activities they may not encounter at home, such as digging, sniffing, foraging, shredding, chewing, and licking.

**Play Camp**: Different from daycare playgroups, this involves special toys and exciting games like Gotcha! and hide & seek.

**Positive Association Camp**: Dogs are introduced to new stimuli while learning calm behaviors, mat work, and body handling.

**Relaxation Camp**: Focuses on instilling calm behaviors through body handling, mat work, soothing music, massage, and puzzles.

Our Story

Our story began in December 2000 when founder Tammy Rosen launched Fur-Get Me Not as a pet sitting business operating out of her home in Arlington, VA. Initially she was the single employee and operator but quickly realized the growing demand for in-home dog walking and pet sitting services. Within a few short months she hired her first employee and was able to expand in-home pet care services in Arlington and soon after the broader Northern Virginia region.

In late 2003, Fur-Get Me Not relocated it's office to Shirlington and opened a 3,000 square foot dog daycare facility. By doing so, the company was able to further expand our pet care services by offering dog daycare, dog boarding, and dog training. By 2006, Fur-Get Me Not expanded in-home pet care services to the Washington, DC area.

In 2010, Fur-Get Me Not became a full-family affair when Tammy's husband joined the company. At the same time, we expanded our business in Arlington, by opening a Dog Training School located next door to our dog daycare, and in DC, by opening a DIY Dog Wash.

Today Fur-Get Me Not employs 130 pet care professionals and provides services to over 8,000 clients in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC area. Fur-Get Me Not has been recognized by numerous publications, organizations, and our customers for the high quality of services and the friendly, professional staff that make it all happen.
