Antioch Animal Services Antioch Animal Services is dedicated to promoting animal welfare and public awareness. The City of Antioch operates a full service Animal Shelter.

Antioch Animal Services is a bureau of the Antioch Police Department and is responsible for public safety, enforcing local and state laws, as well as caring for the animals in our shelter. Antioch Animal Services is unique in that we only serve Antioch residents and do so 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The cities surrounding Antioch rely on Contra Costa County Animal Services for their animal

related needs. We recognize the responsibility this bureau has to fairly and wisely exercise good judgment when trying to accomplish our mission. We acknowledge that we are held to a higher standard; therefore, our personal and professional lives must be exemplary. We provide care for the lost, homeless and unwanted animals found or surrendered within the City of Antioch. We work closely with local animal welfare organizations to increase the number of animals that are placed into loving homes.

Habit is a gorgeous girl who has shown incredible patience waiting out her time here at the shelter since early March. 🥰

She's starting to get stressed and we are hopeful that this week will be the magical one that finds her happily ever after. 🙏

Sierra was dropped off at East Hills Veterinary Hospital for what initially was thought would be an FHO surgery, but Dr Danny has evaluated Sierra further and determined that she needs an amputation. It's going to be a bit invasive as it's up high, but she will adjust quickly to the tripawd life and we update you tomorrow with how she is doing. 🤞

Thank you to Antioch Friends of Animal Services who are paying for Sierra's surgery. 🙏

We are very grateful to start our week with Bo (Beau) heading into his much deserved next chapter. 👏

Thanks to K9 Optima for networking, Stitch In Time Animal Rescue (STAR) for the medical support and to Rocket Dog Rescue for securing a foster home and transport. 🙏

There were alot of moving parts to coordinate this Monday morning freedom ride and Bo had no idea, he just happily strutted his wagging nubbin out the front doors without knowing he wouldn't be coming returning to his kennel...🥰

What was initially 'Patrick' quickly evolved into a much more fitting name: Blitz! His boundless energy and vibrant personality truly earned him that spirited moniker.

Since that day, our home has been filled with an immeasurable amount of joy, laughter, and unconditional love. Blitz has integrated into our family not just as a pet, but as a cherished member, bringing a unique brand of sunshine into our everyday lives with his playful antics and comforting presence. He’s proven to be an exceptionally loyal and intelligent companion, constantly surprising us with his charm and affection.

Now for the truly exciting part! Our wonderful Blitz has been nominated as a contestant in the highly regarded Annual Pet Lovers' Choice Award! This competition highlights pets who bring immense happiness and make a profound difference in their families' lives. We are absolutely thrilled, and incredibly proud to announce that he is currently holding an amazing second place in the standings!

"Antioch Animal Services" often brings to mind shelter pets and adoptions, but our responsibilities reach much further. We serve as both an animal welfare and public safety agency, enforcing animal laws, investigating complaints, managing bite quarantines, responding to loose livestock, issuing permits and helping reunite lost pets with their families. 🙏

While we assist with sick and injured wildlife, we are not a pest control or wildlife nuisance service. Our focus is protecting the health, safety and well-being of both the community and the animals that live within it.

From stray pets to public safety concerns, Animal Services is about much more than the animals in our shelter - it is about serving the entire community. 🐾
