🐾 It All Started With a Puppy: The Pit Bull

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know one thing…

I don’t believe every breed is the same.

And that’s not a bad thing.

Every breed was intentionally created for a purpose. The behaviors we love—and the ones that frustrate us—didn’t just appear overnight. They are the result of generations of selective breeding.

This weeks we’re talking about one of the most controversial and misunderstood groups of dogs in the world: the pit bull.

This post isn’t about defending the breed.
It isn’t about attacking the breed.

It’s about understanding the breed.

You’ll learn:
🐾 Why they were originally created.
🐾 Which behaviors are genetically normal.
🐾 What owners often mistake for “bad behavior.”
🐾 How to train with their genetics instead of constantly fighting against them.
🐾 Who is—and isn’t—a good fit for this breed.

Here’s something I’d like everyone to remember…

A pit bull isn’t dangerous because it’s a pit bull.

A pit bull also isn’t safe simply because someone says, “It’s all how you raise them.”

Both genetics and environment matter.

Ignoring genetics is just as irresponsible as using genetics as an excuse.

The best owners understand the dog standing in front of them and provide the structure, leadership, training, and outlets that dog was bred to need.

That’s exactly what this series is about.

Every breed has a history. Every behavior has a purpose.
