The For Dogs Only (FDO) facility is on 6 acres, a 150’x140’ building with AC, turf and 3 restrooms, for Agility, Flyball, & Rally/Obedience seminars, training, and competitions.

Hi Everyone,

The NASA Area Companion Dog Association October 17-18, 2026 Agility Trial opened August 19, 2026. It closes Friday, October 9, 2026.

Come help us celebrate our first trial in this new premier facility. For Dogs Only720 Algoa-Friendswood Road Alvin, TX 77511. Indoors on Turf. Our judge will be Pamela Nettles.

Hello All! Just a reminder that we are organizing the crating in the back (flyball) area as in the diagrams below. This is to help ensure that we have a clear walkway on all sides of the ring, and so that everyone has easy access to their dogs. We appreciate everyone’s help to keep FDO safe and fun for all!

If you are crating along the side walls, please make sure and put your chair in front of your crate so that we can crate as many dogs along the walls as possible.

Good morning all!! We are looking forward to another LARGE AKC trial this weekend!!! 79 handlers and 111 dogs entered this weekend!

And because we like to keep things interesting , we are sharing a big parking lot update! Parking curbs have been installed this week - so if you try to cut across the parking lot early in the morning, you will get a rude awakening! 😲

Also note that the parking direction has changed. Please see diagram attached.

We will also have the crating area organized again, as we did for the last trial. Please bring in what you need - but leave giant playpens, picnic tables, kitchen sinks, and altars to the agility gods in your vehicle or at home.

It was a great turnout! Thank you also to everyone who pitched in and helped make the weekend go smoothly. Feel free to post any pictures or videos below!

We enjoyed the courses from Judge Rebecca Hill, the hospitality provided by Kraftyk9, massages by Renee Snedecor King, treats and toys from Wild at Heart Raina Wood, and photography from Tracy Patton. Thank you to all who supported them.

Bring your dog and a 6-foot leash, and let's get excited about nosework and learning how our dogs follow scent! How scent travels in different environments is amazing. The more you understand it, the better handler and competitor you and your K9 will be.

* Learn how scent travels in different environments.
* The use of effective rewards
* How to develop a reliable TFR
* Identify changes in your dog's body language when in scent
* Develop teamwork between you and your dog
* Introduction to the scents used in AKC Nosework and how to train your dog to recognize them
* How to work with different scent vessels

Kathy Bunker has been working with dogs and scents over 30 years. She has certified dogs nationally and internationally in SAR, live finds, disaster, and HRD. She has included studies at the Center for Forensic Training and Education in Ohio, and has held membership with International Police Working Dog Association, Texas Task Force deployed to Katrina, Harris County Sheriff's Office, and NASAR. Kathy currently has a dog working detective level with AKC.
