LBCC Livestock Judging Team Alumni and Friends

Our team recently completed Winter Workout 2025, a week-and-a-half-long endeavor marked by extensive travel, exposure to outstanding livestock, and invaluable interactions with industry leaders. Visits included stops at Beef Northwest Feeders in the Boardman/Hermiston area and Double M Feedlot/Clint Sexson, followed by a stay in Klamath Falls hosted by Ty Kliewer. Mr. Kliewer not only arranged classes & workouts but also treated the entire group of 26 to the Lost River FFA Steak & Oyster Dinner. We also acknowledge the generosity of Bob and Kathleen Buchanan who have an awesome set of Angus bulls and heifer calves.

15 team members then traveled to Oklahoma for the popular Oklahoma Winter Workout, benefiting from the hospitality of Allen/Newcomb Club Lambs, Express Ranches, Pfeiffer Farms, Jesse & Mason Henson, and Griswold Cattle.

Freshman Jaxsten Thayn was called for 10th High Ind in a challenging Griswold Cattle contest.

We extend heartfelt thanks to our school, parents, and community for their unwavering support as we head home for our the holidays! See you in 2026!

The Roadrunners had a solid trip to the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, KY. Thank you to the great workouts hosted by PVF, Dameron Angus, University of Illinois, NSR/Wehmer’s Hamps, and Forsee Southdowns. There were 31 schools competing and 142 contestants. Results below:

Our freshmen had the opportunity to help today with the All The Single Ladies Heifer Sale put on by Adrienne Lulay (she teaches the AI class at LB) and Jen Mitchell! They even had them select a Best Pen Lot. Congrats to all breeders and thank you for allowing us to get behind the scenes.

A very successful weekend for the Roadrunners at the Triple Crown Contest series in California. Three contests, 33 classes, 12 sets of reasons over the three days! Senior college & Junior college competed in the same division.

Our sophomore crew made a quick trip to San Francisco for the Cow Palace Grand National Livestock Judging Contest. We appreciate Adam & Rebecca Mendonza for all of their time and effort coordinating this contest! For the fourth year in a row, LBCC took home the Champion Junior College Team award and High Ind Overall! We were also named Reserve Champion Junior College Team

What a weekend!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support the Legends of the Fall Sale and the LBCC Livestock Judging Team. From Friday’s golf tournament to Saturday’s sale and Sunday’s clinic, your time, generosity, and enthusiasm made it all possible.

A special thank you to Bob and Brock May, who flew out from Mineral Point, Wisconsin, to be part of the weekend — your support and presence mean so much to our program.
