Take a peek 👀 inside our expanded snow leopard habitat 🚧

Construction crews are hard at work making the space as comfy as possible for our snow leopard friends, including a new cave.

With this expanded habitat, we will have the ability to either divide the habitat into two separate spaces, allowing more than one cat to be outdoors simultaneously, or we can open it up completely. We can’t wait to show Tai his new digs 🎉

There will be animal encounters inside Komodo Kingdom, fun crafts and we'll countdown the ball drop at 12 p.m. (noon) to ring in the new year! Plus, stick around after the ball drop for a special tiger training wall 🐅

Zoo Year's Eve is included with general admission and is FREE for Akron Zoo members.

There are still tickets available for Brew at the Zoo Holiday Special 🎄 Stroll the zoo and sample beer and wine from local breweries and wineries, all while taking in over a million dazzling holiday lights!

📅 Dec. 27 from 6 - 9 p.m.

Tickets include 8 sample tastings and admission to Wild Lights. Food trucks will also be here selling yummy snacks. See the full list of vendors and purchase tickets on our website: https://www.akronzoo.org/brew-at-the-zoo

This past weekend, a group of volunteers braved the cold and snow to conduct the annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC) alongside the Akron Audubon Society. The CBC is a community science project that started on Christmas Day in 1900, making this the 126th bird count!

The information collected during the bird count goes into a national database that helps scientists track bird populations. This year, a total of 1,564 birds were sighted including 441 Canada geese, 416 European starlings, 3 bald eagles and a flock of swans (to name a few).

Great job everyone and thank you for your work on this important cause!
