Please consider adopting a shelter dog! There will be lots of folks available at the shelter to guide you to your perfect match.

Are you coming to our Kick-off Party THIS SATURDAY at noon?? 🍦🐕🪀🐾

We'll cool off with an ice cream truck & pup cups, have fun goodies and giveaways, and most importantly, you can meet our adoptable dogs!

Adoption fees are reduced to $28 a dog, and all dogs are microchipped, fully vetted, ready to be taken home, and even come with a 2025 Summit County Dog License.

We can't wait to see you there!

Meet Devin — an 85lb German Shepherd with a heart as big as his paws 🖤 At around 4–5 years old, Devin has outgrown the chaos of puppyhood but still has all the classic shepherd traits you love: loyal, intelligent, and eager to be part of a team. He’s pretty laid-back for a GSD, but don’t be fooled — he still enjoys his daily patrols, sniffing missions, and staying close to his people.

If you’re looking for a companion with that signature German Shepherd spirit, Devin might just be your perfect match. 🐾

Rowdy got the sweet of his dreams! We can’t thank Eve and David enough for stepping up and offering Rowdy a spot in their home and hearts. There’s plenty of fetch in his big fenced backyard, where he also enjoys shadowing his new senior sister, Lady.

Speaking of sweet, his parents own and operate https://blackdogbakingcompany.com in Cuyahoga Falls! Check them out! They also serve lunch. You won’t be disappointed. 👅💛➡️🐶🏡

Meet Rowdy! He’s done his time in the cone and is now ready to go home!! 😆😍

Rowdy’s one of seven dogs from Barberton rescued in May. All are chihuahua Jack Russell terrier mixes. One has been adopted by his foster family, three were transferred to another rescue, and the remaining trio are now fully vetted and ready for their !

Rowdy’s laid back and very sweet once he trusts you. He initially escaped his enclosure and spent some time hiding under a bed but soon realized he was not in danger. Interested in adopting Rowdy? ART SAVES LIVES!

The Akron Rescue Team is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rehoming of rescue dogs. Through active promotion and diligent advocacy, the Akron Rescue Team seeks to reduce the number of homeless dogs through adoption and spaying and neutering.

The Akron Rescue Team was formed in response to ART’s founder Kim Gorrell’s personal dedication and devoted service assisting rescue dogs in need at her community’s local animal control facility. Kim witnessed firsthand that some dogs require critical and often costly medical care before being adopted and that many also benefit recovering first and restoring their health in loving foster homes. Possessing the skills and the ability to help more dogs in need, she enlisted the support and expertise of her friends to raise much needed awareness and funds. Together they formed ART.

ART is a team of friends helping dogs by enabling desperately needed hope of bright futures for more homeless dogs, helping more families discover adoption, and offering effective community based spay and neuter education and assistance. #friendshelpingdogs

Working diligently together, the Akron Rescue Team will give more dogs a second chance. Everyone who adopts, fosters, donates, volunteers, creates, patronizes, purchases, likes or shares our posts is a member of the Akron Rescue Team. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
