SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare

SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal welfare is an animal shelter and adoption facility offering affordable spay & neuter services and vaccinations.
Animal Welfare agency (formerly the Aiken SPCA) dedicated to finding homes for dogs, cats, and other companion animals that come through our door.
(57)

Established in 1935, the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare is a private, non-profit organization operating under IRS Section 501c3. We have been placing thousands of needy animals into loving forever homes for over 80 years. MISSION We strive to improve the lives of companion animals by rehoming abused, abandoned, and neglected pets while fighting for their well-being through vigorous legislative effort, humane education, and by offering affordable veterinary care for all. VISION We envision a world in which every animal has a safe and loving home, access to quality veterinary care, and where the unfailing love and devotion of a companion animal is valued by all. We depend upon local donations to support our efforts to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats in our community and receive no regular funding from state or federal agencies, or from the ASPCA (a completely separate entity). Our success is due to the efforts of dedicated SPCA Albrecht Center employees and volunteers, leadership and support from our Board of Directors, as well as the generous donations and continued support of our community.

Mission: We strive to improve the lives of companion animals by rehoming abused, abandoned, and neglected pets while fighting for their well-being through vigorous legislative effort, humane education, and by offering affordable veterinary care for all.

Otis Needs Your Help!

Update: The goal has been changed to $1,300 as we received a generous $300 offline donation!
Sweet, 3.5-year-old Otis needs your help! This beautiful boy has a BIG heart and LOVES people, kids and other animals. However, he has been brought into the SPCA Albrecht Center SEVEN TIMES due to separation anxiety behaviors (running away and destructive behaviors (never aggression)). Otis experiences separation anxiety because of his love and desire for companionship, but this makes him difficult to place into a forever home.

He needs your help raising $1,600 (including his training collar) for an intensive training program so he can fulfill his lifelong dream of having his person. Our partner Kara Dixon, who does the training, has worked wonders for special case dogs, including Ziggy, who you may remember found his forever home after his training.

Any amount donated is GREATLY appreciated and helps Otis towards his goal of training and a forever home. Good luck, Otis! #LetLoveLive #SaveALife #AdoptToday #Training #Donate

Hi, I'm Billy (male)! I'm a 4-year-old hunk of a kitty. I'm currently housed in the SPCA cattery with my friend Julia - I love my furry friends and humans, too! You'll catch me lounging on the couch, but I'd rather be cuddling with you on yours. My adoption fee is currently $25 and includes my vaccines, microchip and neuter surgery. #LetLoveLive #SaveALife #AdoptToday

The SPCA Albrecht Center has been helping a local cat colony caretaker group find much-needed volunteers for their efforts. Thank you to ALL that have expressed interest or have volunteered yourself!

This compassionate group cares for MANY colonies in the area - providing TNR surgeries and 7-days-a-week feedings. To fill the needs of all of their colonies and the daily feedings, they are still in need of some volunteers!

Food and training are provided. If you are able to assist, please call Diane Shelton at (336) 722-0098 or email [email protected]. #LetLoveLive #Volunteer #ColonyCats

"During the summer, shelters and rescues face an added stress on their resources from increases in puppy and kitten intakes due to spring litters. Animal welfare groups, rescues and shelters are pros at stretching their dollars to help the pets in their care.

This summer, local shelters will face a new challenge. The coronavirus pandemic is putting an extra strain on already stretched resources. In order to support shelters everywhere feeling this strain, we're asking for your help. Every bit counts." #CleartheShelter #GreaterGood #LetLoveLive #SaveALife #AdoptToday #DonateToday #LifesavingGift #AdoptionSpecial

Hi, we're Francine (F/1 year 9 months) and Katsumi (M/10 months)! We were recently returned to the shelter with our friend Julia (not pictured) after being adopted, when our adopters were moving away. We're simply looking for a home where we can feel safe and loved by our person. Our adoption fees are just $25/each and includes our spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations and microchip. We do not all have to be adopted together, but we do enjoy each other's company. #LetLoveLive #SaveALife #AdoptToday

Congratulations to Ashley Howell for her well-deserved 'Employee of the Month' recognition! If you are one of our many valued Vet Care Center clients, you may have had the pleasure of meeting this all star employee. Here's what Ashley's supervisor had to say about her stellar performance:

"Ashley came to the Vet Care Center being honest about her lack of experience. However, her enthusiasm to learn was quickly evident. Now she is a team member who can perform multiple tasks in the hospital as well as help teach others. Keep smiling through this tough time!" Good job, Ashley!

I just want to find my forever and haven't lost hope that it's out there. Third time's a charm! My adoption fee is $75 and includes my neuter surgery, vaccinations and microchip. #LetLoveLive #SaveALife #AdoptToday

Would like to know what the response is to this. Not sure how you can charge for a pet that you never looked at. You really need to get a better system. I have had a similar experience, arrived at noon for 1 opening. I was the third person there. Was seen after 3 and then you tried to add on a bunch of stuff I hadn't come for. Not impressed. Another post about experiences with local small animal vets. Full disclosure this is long winded. Like all horse barns we get our share of drop in cats. And like many farms they are welcome. I try to catch spay or neuter and get them the needed shots when possible Yesterday at morning feed, one of them showed up with an eye that had been damaged some time during the night. Since it was obviously an emergency, after morning chores I took him over to the Albrecht aspca clinic. We got there pretty close to 1 pm, when they open and were given a beeper numbered 14 and told it would be about an hour and a half. I put on the intake paperwork that the was damage to his eye and face. And then we sat. Outside in the heat, and rain and bugs. We sat. And they called him at 430pm. When I was starting to get worried about night barn feeding and chores, cause nothing got done all afternoon. A few minutes later the vet walked out and told me they couldn’t treat him, and told me to take him to the emergency clinic either in Columbia or Augusta. I explained I couldn’t do that as I needed to be on the farm to care for the horses She got irate and told me I would have to sign an ama. They would not give him anything for the terrible pain, or impending infection. Upset I called Aiken Animal Hospital where Baylee answered the phone. I explained the situation. She went and spoke to the doctors and told me to have Albrecht email the reports over and a doctor would look at the reports and get back to me. Albrecht would not email the reports over so I asked for all the cats medical history along with that days report. Then after a little more than half an hour, they demanded payment. Did I mention that they never even took the cat out of the carrier. And put that in their report. I drove the reports over to Aiken Animal Hospital where I happened to see Dr Haile in the parking lot. I asked her to give the reports to Baylee and explained what was going on. Long story eh? Long story short, Dr Haile stayed after her last patient, looked at the cat And came up with a treatment plan for the cat. And that’s why I absolutely love Aiken animal hospital, Dr Brown and all of her doctors and staff. I have never felt like they just were doing a job there.
We found a little white female dog running/limping on Reynolds Pond Road at Pipeline Rd this morning, we saw a truck hit the dog and keep going! We took it to ASPCA. It has a pink collar and a tag with the name Riley! It is a sweet little girl and apparently had a home somewhere. They will keep her for 10 days and fix up her leg, then she will be put up for adoption! If you know anyone in the area missing a little white dog, please have them call the ASPCA!
Bo and Blaze went missing from 301 Wilderness Rd, between 5am and 8 am. They are both friendly but can be skiddish around strangers. Please call me at +18038450777 if spotted.
Just called the office and told the person I spoke with I’d send a recent photo of Rebel now known as Dottie. We adopted her October 1. She is a wonderful addition to our family.
Lady L, needs a good home! Like and Share to help give this friendly puppy a family 🐶 #AdoptDontShop #SPCA
Is the Vet Clinic open today from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. due to it being the 4th of July?
I'm not sure if you guys do success stories on your post but I would like to share "Abe's"(renamed Rolo) when we adopted him I was honestly really sad because of the lose of my dog tidus. at first we adopted him for my daughter so she could more easily get over the loss of Tidus, which worked like a charm. I wasn't sold, I'm a pitbull girl after all. day by day he inches his way into my heart at first he was shy and reserved, after a month he was playing with toys and my kids. he has even been off leash a few times and never leaves the kids side he loves them so much. I guess the point of the story is never count older dogs out they are filled with love acceptances and loyalty! And ALWAYS ADOPTED especially from the SPCA they can provide you with a new best friend, even if you are not looking for one

This little girl is lost and needs to find her home. She is here at Kelly Paint and Body.
Madre decided to ditch the super secret hiding spot she had, and upgrade to her comfy new bed! Slowly but surely she’s coming out of her shell!
Madre is doing well, and eating great. She is still very shy and has found her perfect little hiding spot. However the second that it’s bed time she comes out of hiding and prefers to sleep in the bed! Thank you guys for letting me have this sweet girl!
Amber Martin here is the best place to find a puppy!
