SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare

SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal welfare is an animal shelter and adoption facility offering affordable spay & neuter services and vaccinations.
Animal Welfare agency (formerly the Aiken SPCA) dedicated to finding homes for dogs, cats, and other companion animals that come through our door.
(229)

Established in 1935, the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare is a private, non-profit organization operating under IRS Section 501c3. We have been placing thousands of needy animals into loving forever homes for over 80 years. MISSION We strive to improve the lives of companion animals by rehoming abused, abandoned, and neglected pets while fighting for their well-being through vigorous legislative effort, humane education, and by offering affordable veterinary care for all. VISION We envision a world in which every animal has a safe and loving home, access to quality veterinary care, and where the unfailing love and devotion of a companion animal is valued by all. We depend upon local donations to support our efforts to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats in our community and receive no regular funding from state or federal agencies, or from the ASPCA (a completely separate entity). Our success is due to the efforts of dedicated SPCA Albrecht Center employees and volunteers, leadership and support from our Board of Directors, as well as the generous donations and continued support of our community.

Mission: We strive to improve the lives of companion animals by rehoming abused, abandoned, and neglected pets while fighting for their well-being through vigorous legislative effort, humane education, and by offering affordable veterinary care for all.

Aleman is a 2-year-old German Shepard mix, who came to the SPCA Albrecht Center as a stray. He is heartworm positive, but don't let that scare you away from adopting this guy. The SPCA Albrecht Center has covered the cost of treatment, which he has received in the form of an injection. He must stay calm for at least two months while his treatment gets this sweet boy back healthy, but after he will live a normal, happy life. Will you give Aleman the loving home he deserves? #LetLoveLive #SaveALife #AdoptToday ❤️

Update: Anastasia has been adopted. Tatiana is on hold pending a medical eval and possible adoption. We will update if she is officially adopted or becomes available again. ❤️

Anastasia (2 years/Huskey Mix) & Tatiana (1 year/Huskey Mix)came to the SPCA as strays in December. They were not reclaimed by owners, so they are now looking for their forever home. To our knowledge, these sweeties get along with other pups, and we're always happy to set up a meet and greet with potential adopters and their current pets. They do not have to be adopted together, but we're sure they would like that too! You can visit Anastasia and Tatiana at the SPCA Albrecht Center Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm. #LetLoveLive #SaveALife #AdoptToday ❤️

Take Me Home: Meet "Noelle"!

Update: Adopted! ❤️
Every Friday morning, the SPCA Albrecht Center is blessed with the opportunity to show off one of our amazing, adoptable pets with our friends at WRDW News 12 NBC 26 during their "Take Me Home" segment. This past Friday, we took sweet Noelle, a two-month-old mixed breed with lots of cuddles to give!

Noelle came to the SPCA Albrecht Center with five siblings when a local citizen brought the litter in as strays. After being fostered and later vetted, these adorable puppies were put up for adoption in hopes of finding their forever homes. Noelle LOVES to cuddle and give kisses, and has won the hearts of all that have met her.

Though Noelle was recently adopted (YAY!), there are many other adorable pups in need of a loving home. Visit us at 199 Willow Run Road in Aiken; Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm. #LetLoveLive #SaveALife #AdoptToday

Drum roll, please. 🥁🥁🥁
We are announcing our January Pets of the Month! Every month, our staff nominates two deserving SPCA adoptable pets to be highlighted for the month (and fee-waived). For January 2020, we're introducing Victoria and Seliae. Read more about our Pets of the Month below . . .

Update: ADOPTED! ❤️ Victoria is a 1y 4m old mixed breed with a lot of love to give. She is a shy girl and LOVES the company of another animal to help give her confidence. Victoria was being housed with another dog, Copper (who has now found a forever home), and they helped bring out the best in each other, so we'd love to see her adopted into a family with another pet.

Seliae is a 1y 9m old kitty, who loves a good cuddle! She is currently housed with another cat and loves her furry companions. You'll find her cuddled in a basket, so if you have good napping spots in your home you'll be her favorite person for life! Seliae is the Cat of the Month and is already spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations and available for a $0 adoption fee during January. #LetLoveLive #SaveALife #AdoptToday

Cheers to A New Decade in Animal Welfare!

"Every triumph, every milestone, every life saved is not our own accomplishment, but the accomplishment of all of you - our supporters, volunteers, adopters, donors, staff members, event attendees and more. The animals that passed through our doors in 2019, and will pass through our doors in 2020, were given a second chance because of you. So, I’d personally like to take the opportunity to thank you for the many blessings you have brought to the SPCA Albrecht Center this year (in no particular order, of course)." #letlovelive

The year has come to an end and we now find ourselves in a new decade – 2020!  The New Year is always exciting at the SPCA Albrecht Center.  It’s a t

UPDATE: Copper & Victoria have found their forever homes. ❤️

**LAST CHANCE: FEE-WAIVED ADOPTIONS END TODAY - 11 am to 5 pm at 199 Willow Run Road!**
Copper (10m old) & Victoria (1y 4m old) are two shy babies that love the company of other pets, especially each other, to make them feel confident. We'd love to see these two sweethearts adopted together, but they don't have to be - though we do prefer they go to a home with other pets. Victoria loves other dogs and cats, and Copper loves other pups as long as they are his size or bigger. Can you be the one to give these companions the comfort and security they need to live their best life? #letlovelive #savealife #adopttoday ❤️🐾

12/27/2019

Photo courtesy of one of our amazing foster mommas, who captured this precious moment Tiny, a 3-month-old kitten, was dreaming of her new home, which she finally received (ADOPTED!) Tiny is FIV+, and though she's been adopted, there are other FIV+ kitties waiting for their chance - like Sprout (second photo), a 6-year-old hunk o' kitty with LOTS of love to give! Don't let FIV scare you away from adopting these deserving souls. Please read more for information about FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus). 🐾

FIV is only transferred through deep bite wounds, or, occasionally, if a mother cat is FIV+ and it carries down to her young. This affects only 1.5-3% of the cat population (depending on region), but is most prevalent in outdoor, intact males, who have territorial fights with other outdoor cats (unfortunately, Sprout's story).

The virus is similar to a human autoimmune disorder, where their bodies can’t differentiate between good and bad bacteria, so illnesses should be treated immediately by a veterinary professional to avoid complications. However, through keeping FIV+ cats indoors, reducing stress, feeding them a proper diet and visiting the vet twice per year (rather than once), these cats can live normal, healthy lives. FIV+ cats most certainly can be in homes with other cats, but they do need to get along so there isn’t a possibility of transmission to a healthy cat through fighting. The virus cannot be transmitted to dogs or humans. #letlovelive #savealife #adopttoday

**FEE-WAIVED ADOPTIONS UNTIL DEC 31st**
This adorable boy is all smiles! One-year-old Dario came to the SPCA Albrecht Center (199 Willow Run Road, Aiken) as a stray, and now wants to know the comfort of a home of his own. Dario would prefer to be in a home without children under the age of 12, but that doesn't mean he's not an absolute sweetheart! Will you give Dario a reason to smile every day? #letlovelive #savealife #adopttoday ❤️🐾

**FEE-WAIVED ADOPTIONS UNTIL DEC 31st (Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)**
Asta and Akila (10 months old) came to the SPCA Albrecht Center (199 Willow Run Road) with an upper respiratory infection, which meant they spent quite some time in our Veterinary Care Center before finally having the chance on the adoption floor. Now, they are extremely happy and healthy and need a home of their own! These two are playful, sweet babies. We'd love to see them go to a home together or into a home with other cats, as they thrive with other pets. #letlovelive #savealife #adopttoday ❤️🐾

This guy has been hanging out around my house for the past two days. He’s a great dog.. appears to be a yellow lab mix and maybe 8 months old. No collar. Unfortunately with our schedules, we cannot take in a dog right now. If anyone is looking for their dog in our area(Coleman Bridge Rd.) please let me know.

Goliath arrived at his forever home yesterday. He met his fur sisters who are the same breed as him, rescues. The girls welcomed him, and showed him the bed in the kitchen, and the food and water bowls. He had a little challenge with his cone on, but he sure knew where to go when bed time came. Right there next to me. He slept tight all night. He is a little food aggressive so we will be working on that and how to go to the back door. We are all a little scared in a new place. But he will settle in and now I have a heart full with my 3 new rescues.
