Mice are social animals and are very intelligent. They require a large cage filled with plenty of enrichment. These can include but not limited to chew toys, climbing toys, different types of beddings and hideouts.

Common illness can include skin and respiratory issues as well as tumours so it’s important to handle them and monitor them frequently. As they are prey animals, they tend to hide their sickness well. Subtle signs of sickness such as reduce in weight, appetite or activity level would warrant a vet as soon as possible.

Dear pawrents, please take note that our Serangoon gardens, Bukit Timah and Katong clinics will be closed on 1st May due to Labour Day.

Our Serangoon gardens clinic will be closed to 5 May 2023 for renovations.

Our Katong clinic would also be closed from 3pm onwards on 4th May due to a company event.

Please contact our Bukit Timah and Katong clinic during the clinic’s operating hours if there are any urgent requests. Please feel free to send emails for non urgent enquiries if you are unable to call through the lines. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

This is Izzy the Glen of Imaal terrier. She is the absolute sweetest puppy! She came in for a check as she just flew in from England.

This is the first time our Katong clinic is seeing this breed. Have you seen them around before? 😍

Cheek pouch prolapse

Hamster have cheek pouches which they use to store food. Sometimes the cheek pouches can become impacted or infected and may lead to a cheek pouch prolapse.

It is an emergency and they should be seen by a vet as soon as it is noticed. Many may require surgical intervention to help fix the problem.

This is Huahua the chihuahua. He came in because he was very weak. Young puppies require frequent feeding and they can get hypoglycaemic (Low blood sugar ) if they do not eat. Thanks to Huahua’s owner for bringing him in swiftly, Huahua was feeling much better when he left the clinic.

Signs can include weakness, lethargy , poor appetite, twitching, tremors, seizure and coma. It is an emergency and would require immediate attention. Many times some puppies would not eat and drink during an episode and this can result in the blood sugar falling even lower. Very small puppies such as Pomeranians and Chihuahuas are especially susceptible.

For adult dogs, hypoglycaemia can happen due to different diseases.

Chinchillas have the densest fur out of all the mammals and are very soft! They originate in the Andean mountains of South America.

Common issues we see with them are gastrointestinal related, dental, skin and respiratory.

This is Reno! He is a Bergamasco Sheepdog! The breed originated from Italy and it’s no surprise that they were bred for herding and guarding livestock. Reno is such a sweet boy!

If you know of someone who lost their pet cockatiel around the vicinity of NJC drive and Hillcrest Rd, please let them know of this fella who was found and brought to us! Overgrown incisors!

Did you know that the teeth of hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas and rabbits grow throughout their life? Sometimes they can develop dental issues which can be due to congenital reasons or dietary reasons.

Overgrown teeth can often grow into the cheek or gums and can be painful. Signs to look out for can include and not limited to preference for soft food, salivation, reduced appetite and teeth grinding.

Poor Shoyu came to us for having soft stools. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Our furry friends can get diarrhoea from multiple reasons and some of the reasons can include pancreatitis, parasitic infections and viral infections. As many diseases can show up as diarrhoea, diagnostics can be ran to rule out certain conditions.

At Brighton, we have in-house diagnostics tools to help identify the cause of the diseases so that we can treat the problem better! Swipe to see some of the parasites we have found in our other patients.

Brownie came in for sterilisation today! There are many benefits in sterilising bunnies.

🐰male and female bunnies can be kept together without worrying about unwanted pregnancies
🐰less aggressive behaviours
🐰less spraying of urine
🐰elimination of uterine/ testicular cancer

Rabbits can be sterilised after four months of age. Give us a call to schedule for an appointment to speak to our vets if you wish to find out more! This service is available at all our clinics!

Taffy came in for a review! Do you know that hamsters like all our other pets can fall sick too? They tend to not show any signs and even they they do, the signs can be subtle. It is important to always monitor their appetite, drinking, urination and defecation. Any changes to their normal would likely warrant a vet visit.

Seeing doubles? It was a tabby kind of day ! Did you know that Tabby is actually a coat pattern and not a breed?

Tabbies tend to have M pattern on their forehead although it might not as obvious on a long coat. The pattern can occur in many different breeds as well!
