Iffididit made the long journey to Riverton worthwhile this afternoon, taking out a competitive Open 1400! Back on a softer surface, he was right at home and aided by a super ride from Yogesh Atchamah, who has won four races on Iffididit this season 💙👏🏽

Fantastic to have a number of his Otago & Southland-based ownership group on course today, we look forward to the rest of the season 🥂

Riccarton Park-based trainer Anna Furlong is enjoying a career-best season, notching up 25 wins at an impressive strike rate of 6.04 🤩

This marks her first season at the helm of Champagne Racing Stables as a solo trainer, following a successful 13-year partnership with Shane Kennedy.

Furlong’s team has shown real promise, with Iffididit claiming three victories, and Ugo, Tommy Shelby, Ravenna Rose, Quintabelle, and Kikimora each securing two wins apiece 🙌

Anna has found particular success on her home turf, with seven of her wins coming at Riccarton Park Racecourse, and her runners have earned a total of $655,000 in stakes so far this season.

This gorgeous son of U S Navy Flag x Parmalove was a stakes-performing 2YO & then spent a long time off the scene, so we are absolutely thrilled for the Mullally & Duncan families to have him back at his best. He certainly didn’t do it the easy way, racing three-wide throughout, but showed his class to power over the top late under Billy Jacobson 👏🏽

Ugo collected the fifth win of his career in super fashion at Ashburton this afternoon! This lovely son of Zacinto was stepping back to Rating 65 and took his opportunity in the Gilbert Butterick Memorial (1400m), aided by great ride from apprentice Nicola Yuen 👏🏽

As he passes the $100,000 mark in stakes, a big congratulations to his breeders Paul Cunneen & Shane Kennedy, who race Ugo alongside Robert Webster, Ron Ferriman, Noel Cunneen and Phil Blacktopp 💙

This brightened the week after the sad passing of Anna's Dad, he followed the horses loyally and would've been proud of the result with Ugo today 🤍

Champagne Racing is looking for a reliable, experienced worker to cover Sunday shifts, as well as other shifts if desired by the applicant.

Based at Riccarton Park, Christchurch, we are a busy racing stable with around 30 horses in work, ranging from yearlings, to colts and older racehorses. This position would be on the ground, with duties including mucking out boxes, feeding, putting horses on the walker and out to the paddocks.

Please only enquire if you are able to consistently cover the weekend slot, no time wasters.

Conor O’Ceirin kicked off his new campaign for the stable with a super performance to win the Johnny Fresh Darfield & Yaldhurst Open Handicap at Riccarton this afternoon. Conor arrived in fantastic order from Robbie Patterson & he was allowed to roll forward by Ruvanesh Muniandy in the race, taking the lead in the mid-stages and kicking hard to win by 1 - 1/2 lengths! Congratulations to his owner-breeder Wayne Keenan 💚

Quintabelle added another stakes placing to her wonderful record, finishing a game third in the Gr.3 South Island Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes! Our lovely two-year-old Sweetheart produced a super effort in the Pearl Series to run fourth, the same placing recorded by Lil Zena in the 3YO race after doing plenty of work early.

Fantastic to pick up a double early on the card at Ashburton this afternoon! Our lovely filly Selkirk Lass was having her second start after a super debut, and stepping up to the mile, she was bold from the outset and kicked really well in the straight to win by a half-length in the hands of Samantha Wynne. Congratulations to her owners D Burns, G Dodds & S Sloane, who also receive the Pearl Series bonus 💙

In the following race, Chloe’s Comet was chasing a deserved maiden win and she was very tough, holding on after running on-speed throughout to score under Leah Hemi. It was great to get this win for her owners, Cody Cole & Robbie Patterson!

Lady Flojo produced a great resuming run in the Maiden 1200, we look forward to getting her over more ground.

The fabulous Betty Spaghetti charged back into the winner’s circle this afternoon at Ashburton, taking out a competitive Open 1400m! Betty has a great record and had been building to another win, and after a patient ride from Billy Jacobson, she was able to unleash her powerful closing sprint and score by nearly two lengths. A big thank you to Robert Dennis Racing and Betty's big syndicate of owners for entrusting us with this girl, she is a very special mare in the stable with five wins and six minor placings to her credit from just 19 starts.

We were also rapt with the performance of Those Ocean Eyes, running a very close second at start two after winning on debut! Kikimora and Chloe’s Comet also performed well in the heavy conditions.

We are looking for a reliable, experienced full-time Ground Staff member to join our team at Riccarton Park Racecourse!

This position involves general ground staff duties, including bringing horses in & out, hosing, rugging up, using the walker, mucking out boxes, sweeping, feeding & waters. Being confident & capable with young horses, colts and fit racehorses is a must, and you need to have experience in a busy racing stable. There is an opportunity to attend races and trials as well.

No time wasters please.

A fabulous result in the opener today at Riccarton Park, with our lovely debutant Those Ocean Eyes taking out the Rural Livestock Maiden! Beautifully handled by Joe Doyle, this filly jumped well and was a little bit inexperienced in the running, but showed good acceleration to draw away at the post 👏🏽

Anna & Shane purchased this daughter of Ocean Park out of the Ready To Run Sales in 2023 and her wonderful syndicate have been very patient, allowing her to develop & have been rewarded! Fantastic to have so many of you on course to cheer her home.
