On debut. Run second in her two latest trials to the well performed Miss Starlight and Alottago. A filly we really like, and will continue to improve with race day experience. Wide draw to overcome, but hopefully she can get back with cover and run on strongly.

4.55pm R10. ALBERTON ANGEL - Donovan Cooper (a2)
Great fresh up win on the synthetic track. Goes her best races kept fresh. Donovan knows her well, and she should make her presence felt again carrying the feather weight of 52.5kg.

Good luck to the Green & Gold Syndicate and the breeder of both Tabby and Bree, Jonny Orr!

Hivari before his trial win today. He’s looking very sharp as he looks to kick off his spring campaign. Looking forward to getting the son of Tivaci back to the races for Richard and Grant Woolford.

It’s been a quiet few weeks ticking over getting ready for spring racing. Here’s a few videos over the last week of what some of the team have been up to.

Alberton Angel, has come through her fresh up win very well and ready to head back to the races next week.

Chilli Margs is ready to make her debut next week after a bit of a ni**le with a hoof. A lovely filly who we think we will have a bit of fun with.

Hivari is heading to the trials on Monday to have a run under his belt before he kicks off his spring prep. He’s strengthened up really well following his spell.

Holdem arrived back from her spell after a great last season. She was very excited to get back out on the track.

2g Circus Maximus - Mamma Sans has quickly become a stable favourite. He really enjoys his job, and experienced his first look at the practice gates this week. He’s a character and keeps us on our toes. Hoping to get to the trials with him in the next six weeks.

The old boy has been racing well his last two starts. Wide draw to overcome, but not too much speed in the race so hopefully he can get handy without having to do too much work early. Looks bright and working well. He’s honest enough he’s always a chance.

Good luck to Smurfs connections!

Our little man Cracker (2g Circus Maximus - Mamma Sans) enjoying his first day back on the track this morning since his spell. He’s just as enthusiastic about his work as his mother was.

Alberton Angel made it one from one for the team today in the Entain/NZB Insurance Pearl Series 65 1200m on the Riccarton Synthetic.

She led from start to finish, under the guidance of apprentice Donovan Cooper. Well rated by Donovan in front, the daughter of Darci Brahma out of Magic Briar travelled sweetly throughout and kicked clear at the 300m mark to win by 2.5 lengths. A great fresh up effort.

Congratulations to the Green & Gold Syndicate who race ‘Bree’ with her breeder Jonny Orr. Great to see so many of her owners on course.

Really looking forward to the spring with this mare, she raced very well as a three year old, and has furnished beautifully during her spell.

One to race Wednesday on the Riccarton Synthetic.

2.52pm R5. ALBERTON ANGEL - Donovan Cooper (a2)
Fresh up here after a super performance to run 4th in a Rating 75 field to finish off her last campaign. Back in now building towards spring racing. Couldn’t be more thrilled with how she has furnished for her four year old season. Drawn four and has two kilos off with Donovan aboard who knows her well. Think she’s capable of a bold showing in a fresh state.

Good luck to the always enthusiastic Green & Gold Syndicate and Jonny Orr with ‘Bree’ - I know there will be a lot of excitement for the team having her back on track!

A huge congratulations to Brett Murray who rode his 100th winner today at Oamaru - capping off the day on a double. He has played a big part of our team right from the start and I could not be more thrilled seeing him achieve this milestone. 💯

Kicking off the new season on Wednesday at Riccarton Park on the synthetic track.

3.29pm R8. HOLDEM - Amber Riddell (a2)
Has really impressed winning her last two. Steps up in grade for the $100k feature here, and gets down to 52 kilos with Ambers claim. Absolute horror draw, will need a lot of luck early in the race. Otherwise she has kept improving with each run, and couldn’t be happier with her leading into this race.

4.04pm R9. BLUE VEIN - Terry Moseley
The barrier gods have answered our prayers this week. He’s had a terrible run of draws since November - so fantastic to get the two gate. Last start run after having to work early and stick on for fourth was much improved. He’s got a bit of confidence and arrogance back, and think he will put forward another good showing.

Good luck to the connections involved in Sam and Smurf!

Also in Race 5, Katie Readings makes her race day debut aboard the Pam Robson trained Jing Jing in the amateur riders race. A massive thank you to Pam for giving Katie this opportunity and what looks like a good chance on recent form. Good luck Katie!
