🦠 Parvovirus vs. Distemper in Dogs
Both are highly contagious and potentially deadly — but they are very different diseases.

🔴 Parvovirus (Parvo)
✅ Cause: Canine parvovirus (CPV)
✅ How it spreads: F***s, contaminated environments, or direct contact
✅ Who’s at risk: Unvaccinated puppies and dogs
✅ Main symptoms:

Severe vomiting and bloody diarrhea

Lethargy, loss of appetite

Dehydration, fever

Rapid deterioration

⚠️ Highly contagious, very hardy virus — can survive in the environment for months.
🩺 Requires immediate veterinary care.

🟠 Distemper
✅ Cause: Canine distemper virus (CDV)
✅ How it spreads: Airborne (respiratory droplets), or direct contact
✅ Who’s at risk: Unvaccinated puppies and dogs
✅ Main symptoms:

Fever, coughing, nasal and eye discharge

Neurological signs (seizures, twitching)

Vomiting, diarrhea

Thickened paw pads ("hard pad disease")

⚠️ Affects multiple body systems — respiratory, GI, and nervous system.
🩺 Often fatal or causes lasting neurological damage.

💉 Prevention: Vaccination!
Both diseases are preventable with routine puppy and booster vaccines.
Make sure your dog stays up to date — especially during puppyhood and high-risk exposure periods.

It’s Monitoring Day & Night for Nala, our brave diabetic kitty! 🐱💛
Her owners can’t constantly check her glucose the traditional way, but with careful veterinary guidance, some glucose sensors—even off-label—make it safer and easier to create important glucose curves. These curves help us pick the best long-term medication so Nala can stay healthy and happy! 🐾

🐶 Breed: Golden Retriever

🔍 Key Traits:

Gentle, affectionate, and great with kids

Highly intelligent and easy to train

Energetic and loves to retrieve (true to their name!)

Thick, double coat that sheds year-round

🩺 Health & Care Tips:

Hip & Elbow Dysplasia: Common in large breeds—regular checkups and maintaining a healthy weight are key

Ear Infections: Their floppy ears can trap moisture—keep them clean and dry

Obesity: Goldens love food! Watch portion sizes and ensure they get daily exercise

Cancer & Heart Disease: Sadly, Goldens are prone to some cancers—regular vet exams are essential for early detection

🚨 Bloat (GDV) in Dogs: Know the Signs, Save a Life
Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV) — also known as bloat — is a life-threatening emergency where a dog’s stomach fills with gas and twists. It can cut off blood flow and lead to shock within hours.

⚠️ Watch for These Signs:
✅ Swollen or tight belly
✅ Restlessness, pacing
✅ Unproductive retching (trying to vomit, but nothing comes out)
✅ Excessive drooling
✅ Sudden weakness or collapse

🩺 Who’s at Risk?
🦴 Large and deep-chested breeds (like Great Danes, Boxers, GSDs, Labs)
🍽️ Eating quickly or one large meal per day
🏃‍♂️ Vigorous exercise after eating

🚨 What To Do:
If your dog shows any signs of bloat, don’t wait — it’s an emergency. Call us immediately and head straight to the clinic. Early treatment can be lifesaving.

🐾 Breed Spotlight: The Stunning Siamese! 🐱
Talkative, elegant, and full of personality — the Siamese cat is one of the most iconic and beloved breeds in the world. Known for their striking blue eyes, sleek coats, and love of conversation, these cats bring plenty of charm (and chatter) into your home! 💙

🐱 Breed: Siamese Cat

🔍 Key Traits:

Sleek, short coat with pointed markings (seal, blue, chocolate, lilac)

Extremely affectionate and people-oriented

Highly intelligent and loves interactive play

Very vocal — expect plenty of “conversations” with your cat!

🩺 Health & Care Tips:

Dental Disease: Siamese cats are prone to dental problems — regular brushing and dental cleanings are important

Respiratory Issues: Some can develop breathing problems due to their head shape

Anxiety & Stress: Being highly social, they dislike being left alone for long — consider enrichment or even a second cat companion

Maintain regular vet visits and keep them at a healthy weight to avoid common health issues

🛁 Pro Tip:
Siamese cats thrive with mental stimulation — puzzle feeders, climbing trees, and daily playtime keep them happy and out of mischief.

Don’t let their tiny size fool you—the Chihuahua has a big personality packed into a petite frame! Known for their loyalty, sass, and adorable expressions, Chihuahuas are one of the most recognizable toy breeds around. Here’s what makes them so special—and how to keep them healthy and happy! ❤️

🐶 Breed: Chihuahua

🔍 Key Traits:

Smallest dog breed, usually under 6 lbs

Confident, alert, and very loyal to their owners

Can be wary of strangers—early socialization helps

Perfect for apartments or smaller spaces

🩺 Health & Care Tips:

Dental Health: Like many small breeds, they’re prone to dental disease—brush regularly and schedule dental cleanings

Luxating Patella: Knee issues are common—look out for limping or skipping

Tracheal Collapse: Use a harness instead of a collar to protect their airway

Sensitive to cold—Chihuahuas love warm blankets or sweaters in cooler weather
