Our heartfelt thanks to the Sghendo family for their beautiful flowers and thoughtful gifts.

Losing a beloved pet is one of the most difficult experiences a family can face, and we are truly touched that, in the midst of their grief, they took the time to think of our team.

Although we could not change the outcome, we are grateful to have been able to care for their cherished companion and to support the family through such a difficult journey. Knowing that our efforts brought comfort and reassurance means the world to us.

Grass seeds are small, pointy seeds that are attached to the tops of long grass stems. They're often found in meadows and woodland during the summer months.

Paws, ears, nose and under the armpit are the most common affected areas.

๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž ๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ค ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ข๐ง๐๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐  ๐ฆ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ก๐š๐ฏ๐ž ๐š ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ž๐:

โ€ข excessively biting or licking the affected area, especially in between the toes
โ€ขshaking their head if there is a grass seed in the ear, or pawing at the head
โ€ขsneezing excessively if there is a seed up the nose

If the grass seed has pierced the skin, you may notice swelling around the affected area and redness from licking.

Dogs that have longer fur and feathered toes are more prone to be affected by them. Itโ€™s best to check the paws, belly area, under the armpit after a walk in the woodlands.

๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ข๐Ÿ ๐ˆ ๐œ๐š๐ง๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ž๐?

A grass seed that is seen on the surface of your dogโ€™s fur is easily removable, but if you notice the grass seed has burrowed its way into the skin or if you think your dog has a grass seed in their eye or ear, contact your vet immediately.

โ€ข Try and avoid letting your dog roam or jump around in long grassy areas
โ€ข Check your dog over with your hand when back at home, paying attention to the feet, the inside of the ears and the armpit
โ€ข Brush out any seeds you may find and dispose of them in a bin
โ€ข Look out for any signs that a grass seed may be irritating your dog See less
