🌈✨ Sensory Board Fun! ✨🌈

What a wonderful addition this will be for our children, especially when they have a little time to wait before their riding sessions. 🐴

With its bright colours, different textures, spinning wheels and lots of exciting interactive features, it's a brilliant way for the children to explore, discover, learn and have fun at their own pace.

Not only will it encourage sensory exploration, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, but most importantly, we're sure it will bring lots of smiles and happy moments. 💚

🐴How’s Missy doing?

At Washington Riding Centre the ethos has always been simple: time and patience make a good horse.

Years of experience has that selecting a horse is only the beginning. It's about recognising the qualities and potential in a horse, then having the patience to let those qualities develop.

Don't rush them. Give them time to settle, build trust and find their feet, and more often than not, those qualities you spotted right at the beginning start to shine through.

Of course, it doesn't always work out. It's a tough job, and every horse is different.

Who else can't wait to see Missy in lessons? 🐴 💚

At Tyne & Wear RDA Ltd – Washington Riding Centre, we are incredibly proud to work alongside Heel & Toe Children's Charity, supporting the amazing children who benefit from their hippotherapy sessions.

As a charity ourselves, we provide our wonderful ponies, facilities, indoor arena, services and dedicated volunteers to help make these sessions possible. 🐴

This partnership means so much to us. Not only does it allow us to play a part in the children's therapy journeys, but it also provides a vital, steady income that helps keep our own charity running and the centre thriving.

One of the most rewarding parts of jo's work is watching her children grow in confidence, develop new skills and make wonderful progress each term. Seeing their smiles and achievements reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

Both charities rely on support to continue providing these valuable opportunities for children and families across our community.

Together, we can keep life-changing hippotherapy free for children who need it 💛

For many years, funding has enabled us to provide free hippotherapy block sessions to children with disabilities and complex needs across the North East. Sadly, this funding comes to an end in December 2026, and without urgent support, the future of the programme is at risk.

Through the natural movement of the horse, hippotherapy supports children’s physical development, helping to improve strength, balance, confidence and independence while enjoying a unique therapeutic experience.

Hippotherapy is an incredibly scarce resource in the UK, requiring advanced postgraduate clinical training. Our service is led by Jo Parsons, who is one of only a small handful of professional therapists qualified to deliver paediatric hippotherapy in the entire UK.

Our goal is to raise £20,000, which will allow us to help children continue to access this incredible therapy without cost being a barrier.

🐴 More Than Just Riding… A Different View of the World.

It's only midweek in half term, and we've already had the privilege of welcoming two wonderful charity groups for our SEN riding sessions.

The benefits of spending time with horses go far beyond the saddle, building confidence, improving strength and balance, supporting emotional wellbeing and encouraging independence.

But sometimes, the greatest impact is simply seeing the world differently. 💚

For some children who attend our centre and spend much of their lives in a wheelchair, looking up at the world around them, the opportunity to sit proudly on a horse and experience life from a different perspective can be incredibly empowering.

It's not just about riding. It's about freedom, confidence and possibility. 💚

Rosettes will be awarded for 1st–6th place and a trophy for 1st place in each class.

Please note: We will not be accepting bookings on the day. The event must run to schedule to ensure our evening lessons can begin on time.

We have a part livery space becoming available from 1st November, offering a comprehensive care package alongside excellent facilities.

Monthly Livery Prices:
£483 per calendar month – 14hh and under.
£505 per calendar month – 14hh and over.

Part Livery Package Includes:
- Daily mucking out (Monday to Friday)
- Basic concentrate feed
- Hay or haylage.
- Straw bedding.
- Daily rug changes.
- Daily turnout.
Turning out and bringing in.
-Holding for farrier, vet and other appointments.

Facilities Available:
-Indoor arena.
-Outdoor arena.
-Dedicated livery only cabin with toilet facilities.
-Qualified BHS coaches offering discounted lessons to liveries.
