📚 Supporting Maggie's Dream 🐎

We would like to help share something very special from the family of Maggie Coleman, a much loved child who attended our centre, as requested by her mum.

"Maggie always dreamed of becoming a published author. Tragically, she passed away suddenly following a brain haemorrhage while at school, but her creativity and imagination live on through the story she wrote.

Her book is now available on Kindle and can be read free with a Kindle Unlimited subscription. All proceeds from the book will be donated to charity in Maggie's memory, helping to create a lasting legacy from her incredible achievement"

We know many of our families and supporters will want to join us in celebrating Maggie's talent and helping to keep her memory alive.

💚 Rider & Volunteer Testimonial 💚

Meet Louise..

"I've been coming to the centre to ride since January 2024 and started volunteering in August 2024 , I've not looked back!

The wellbeing benefits of riding and volunteering are huge. It's a great way to keep fit, unwind after work, and it has been a real constant for me while navigating treatment for arthritis.

I love my weekly lessons with Emma and she is always supportive and encouraging, and I'm constantly learning new things about riding and horse care. My favourite horse is Foxy, who has taught me so much through online dressage, and my favourite pony is Mouse , good things really do come in small packages! 🐎 🐴

Most importantly, the centre is a wonderful community. It has become a really important part of my life, and I'm so happy to be part of such a welcoming and supportive group of people and ponies."

💚 Many of our volunteers started out as riders. They come for the horses, stay for the community, and go on to play a vital role in helping our centre thrive. Every lesson, volunteer hour and donation helps us continue creating life changing opportunities.

A big shoutout to Clevedale Vets Equine who are very kindly sponsoring some of our RDA riders to help them attend RDA National Championships at Hartpury in July.

As a charity we rely heavily on support from donations, and generous local businesses support like this really does make all the difference ❤️

😊🐎 This summer we’re sponsoring some exceptional riders from Washington RDA Centre, so that they can travel with their horses to Hartpury, to compete in the prestigious RDA National Championships, having worked so hard to qualify.

We can’t wait to see how they all get on and we’ll be wishing them the best of luck🍀☺️

🎥 It's a wrap! 🎥

Today we welcomed the BBC to the centre for some filming. Unfortunately, we can't reveal what it was for just yet... 🤫

You'll have to watch this space for an update around August/September , we're keeping you all in suspense for now!

What we can say is a huge well done to the two children who took part, along with Claire, our coach, Louise, our volunteer, and of course Romany and Mouse 🐎🐴.

We're incredibly proud of everyone involved .

We have sadly lost our beloved Jo Jo. 🐈🌈

We don't usually post when our horses pass away, as it is simply too upsetting. They are loved and enjoyed by so many through our social media pages and remembered for the wonderful work they do.

Our cat, however, has never had appreciation posts of her own. Today, that changes.

Jo Jo was a much loved part of our centre and a familiar face around the yard. Whether she was greeting visitors, supervising daily jobs, finding the warmest spot to nap, or simply being by our side, she brought joy to so many of us.

Everyone, welcome Katie 🐎

Katie has joined us on a trial basis, and if she passes all of her assessments, she will become a permanent member of the centre. 💚
As with all of our horses, Katie received a strangles test prior to arrival and has also passed her veterinary health check, she's ticked both boxes 📦✅

🐴 Help Support Our Horses' Welfare 🐴

Every year, our horses have their saddles checked by a registered saddler and receive assessments from a physiotherapist. These essential welfare checks help keep our horses comfortable, healthy, and happy, but they cost the charity around £3,000 each year.
Please help us raise these vital funds by taking part in our fundraising event.

🐎 Who remembers Apollo? 🐎

Apollo left us during COVID to begin a new chapter in his new home. Hes 25 and still enjoying a quiet life. During that period, many of our horses were rehomed or went out on short-term loan.

Some are no longer with us, but each and every one of them has helped shape riders' journeys and holds a special place in so many memories.

We would love for you to share your memories of any horse you have ridden at the centre, past or present. Whether it was during lessons at the riding centre or with them in their new home, we'd love to hear your stories and see your photos.

Let's celebrate the wonderful horses who have touched our lives and helped create so many unforgettable moments. 💚 🐎

Today, two of our coaches attended Bramham Horse Trials and spent some time volunteering with the BHS on the mechanical horse stand, doing some coaching.

Claire's Tiny Tots, private lessons and semi-private lessons are fully booked tomorrow.

However, we do have a few spaces remaining in Claire's Groundwork to Saddle session tomorrow 2.00–3.00pm. This session is suitable for riders at canter level. 💚
